Here's what everyone is talking about around the office today.

Overtime

Former NFL (National Football League) quarterback Ryan Leaf never made much of an impact in the NFL but he certainly changed the life of a family forever this week. Leaf replied to a Christmas Eve tweet posted by a park ranger’s wife who was worried about her husband not being paid in the wake of the government shutdown. Leaf, whose grandfather was a game warden, responded and offered to help the family pay their mortgage. GREATEST GIFT

Sideline stat

UFC 232 was scheduled for this Saturday in Las Vegas. This week, UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) executives moved the fight to Los Angeles because one of their fighters, Jon Jones, didn’t receive approval from the Nevada State Athletic Commission in time to be able to fight. Good for Jon Jones but stinks for all of the other fighters who are now having to change their families’ plans, pay more in taxes on their earnings since Nevada has no state income taxes and California does and how about the fans who made plans to come to Vegas to see the fight? LOTS OF FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS

Coaches’ corner

LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers beat Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors in their Christmas Day matchup. Although the Lakers still ended up as the losers when James went out with a groin injury. He’s expected to be out for a while. HOLY NUTCRACKER
