While talking about COVID or the weather seems like easy go-to conversation starters, they’re boring and you’re better than that.
This weekend is going to be epic,
The Last Night’s Game Team
Track and Field
Sha’Carri Richardson became a household name after the track and field star tested positive for marijuana and could not compete at the Summer Olympics. Well, she’s back and ready to show the world what they were missing. She posted on Instagram that “It’s game time b*tches” as she previewed her new look. Richardson will compete in one of the biggest annual track events, the Prefontaine Classic, against some of the best in the world this weekend. She’ll take on the Jamaican trio of Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson. SHOW THEM WHAT YOU’VE GOT
Overtime
Let’s be honest, Kendall Jenner rocks pretty much everything she wears, including a gold medal. Her boyfriend of one year, Devin Booker, posted a photo on Instagram of her wearing his gold medal while enjoying lake time. Booker was part of the US Men’s Basketball Team that took home gold in Tokyo. In his day job, he plays for the Phoenix Suns (NBA – National Basketball Association). GOLDEN HOUR
Sideline stat
The NCAA is finally coming around to the fact that women’s basketball deserves a second look. They will now use the term “March Madness” for both the men’s and women’s college basketball tournaments vs. only using March Madness in reference to the men’s tourney. The viewership of the women’s basketball tournament grew exponentially last year amidst the weight room and COVID testing controversy. STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
Coaches’ corner
The teams competing for the Little League World Series (LLWS) title are slowly whittling down, and the Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Angels (MLB - Major League Baseball) want in on the excitement. They will play a big league game at the home of the LLWS in Williamsport, PA. They are planning to dress the part, donning little league-inspired uniforms. The LLWS usually features teams from all over the world, but thanks to COVID, this year’s tournament will only feature American All-Star teams. THE NOT SO WORLD SERIES WORLD SERIES
What to watch
After a 70-year relationship, MLB is taking its baseball card business elsewhere. Sources have confirmed that MLB has awarded the exclusive contract for baseball cards to Fanatics vs. its longtime partner Topps. PEACE OUT
