Overtime

Last week, Carson King was a hero. He held up a sign during “College GameDay” asking viewers to Venmo him money for Busch Light and ended up raising over $1 million for a children’s hospital in Iowa. Fast forward to yesterday when that feel good story imploded. A reporter from an Iowa newspaper dug up inappropriate social media posts from seven years ago, when King was a sophomore in high school, that quoted a line from “Tosh.O” (a Comedy Central show by comedian Daniel Tosh). That caused Anheuser-Busch to cut ties with King. (They’re still honoring their monetary commitment to the children’s hospital). King has apologized saying he’s embarrassed and ashamed of his teenage self. The drama continued when upset fans found racist and homophobic tweets from the reporter himself. Basically, it’s turned into a big quagmire. PROOF THAT WHAT HAPPENS ON THE INTERNET, WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU

Sideline stat

The MLB (Major League Baseball) single season record for strikeouts in a season has been broken for the 12th straight year. It’s no coincidence that the home run record has also been broken this season. CHICKS (AND RATINGS) DIG THE LONG BALL

Coaches’ corner

There has been a great debate in international soccer about who is the greatest player, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi? During the vote for this year’s FIFA Best Men's Player Award, Messi voted for Ronaldo to receive the greatest honor and Ronaldo? Well, he voted for anyone but Messi. Regardless, Messi was crowned as the best male player this week. AT LEAST HE DIDN’T VOTE FOR HIMSELF?
