Ready or not, Monday is here.

Preparing you for the inevitable,
The Last Night's Game

NFL (National Football League)

COVID-19 took its toll on the NFL this weekend with the Tennessee Titans–Pittsburgh Steelers game postponed after 20+ positive tests amongst the Titans. The New England Patriots–Kansas City Chiefs game was rescheduled to tonight after Patriots quarterback Cam Newton tested positive. Luckily no one else on the team has tested positive but just in case, the Patriots are using their two (yes two) team planes to fly to Kansas City for the game. One plane will carry about 20 people who were in close contact with Newton. The other will carry everyone else. ROUGHING IT

Overtime

Washington Football Team’s (NFL) head coach Ron Rivera is currently undergoing treatment for skin cancer while still coaching. Yesterday a little surprise awaited him as his team took the field. With no fans in the stands, an entire section of the stadium was filled with cardboard cut outs of 450 of his friends and family. Apparently it was a particularly rough treatment week for Rivera so that and his team wearing “Rivera Strong” shirts were a welcome boost. FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT

Sideline stat

Both the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA - National Basketball Association) and the Seattle Storm (WNBA – Women’s National Basketball Association) came out hot in the finals of their respective leagues. The Storm are one win away from claiming a championship from the Las Vegas Aces. The Lakers lost last night so they have a little more to prove after starting off with a 2-0 lead (in a best of seven series). IN IT TO WIN IT

Coaches’ corner

The MLB (Major League Baseball) Playoffs head to the divisional series starting today with teams in neutral bubbles in Texas and California. Just because some think baseball is a slower sport doesn’t mean there won’t be some spice in this round. The highlight is the series between the Houston Astros and the Oakland Athletics. A’s pitcher Mike Fiers (formerly of the Astros) was the whistleblower on the Astros cheating scandal that rocked the sports world. BAD BLOOD

What to watch

Alexander Zverev took the court at the French Open (tennis) with COIVD-like symptoms, including a fever, and didn’t tell anyone. His illness clearly impacted his play as he lost yesterday. The No. 7 player in the world took the court Friday with a fever as well. Reminder - stay home if you’re sick (this means you too Alexander). NOT SMART
