Summer Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) set a four-week deadline to determine if they should postpone the Summer Olympics in Japan. The IOC says cancelling the games is not on the table. The Canadian and Australian Olympic Committees won't send athletes to the games unless it's delayed a year. Both U.S.A Track and Field and Swimming are advocating for a one-year delay. Not only are the athletes dealing with the same stressors as the rest of us, but with gyms and even the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee main training facility closing down, they’re running out of places to train. TIME WILL TELL

Overtime

If you’re like us, the number of calories you’re burning while staying home is hovering around the double digits. Well, one Frenchman found a solution honor the medics while staying fit. He ran a marathon on his 22-foot balcony while on lockdown. His girlfriend gave him M&Ms to fuel him during his quest. (In case you’re wondering, his balcony is a little shorter than the length of two MINI Coopers bumper to bumper). SO DIZZY

 

Sideline stat

NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) drivers got behind the wheel for a virtual Homestead race yesterday with big names like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson and this year’s Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin joining in on the contest. Drivers raced from the comfort of their own homes where they didn’t even have to wear shoes and their kids acted as their “pit crew.” The winner Denny Hamlin said he will be donating $6,400 toward the coronavirus relief efforts with sponsors and other drivers also making contributions. With nearly zero option for sports, Americans fell in love with Aussie Rules Football. It’s a mix between rugby and an aboriginal game called “Marngrook” that was created at the Melbourne Cricket Club to keep cricketers in shape during their off-season. Sadly, the Australian government eliminated non-essential travel so the league is on hold for now. WELP, THERE WENT THAT IDEA
