RnR on the horizon,

The Last Night’s Game Team

WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association)

WNBA players will be back playing in their home arenas after playing last season in a bubble.  The season starts today and will feature a break for the Tokyo Olympics. Keep an eye on Breanna Stewart. The newly engaged Stewart, who plays for the defending champion Seattle Storm, is the first WNBA player in a decade to have her own signature shoe. She is one of the many athletes signed by PUMA in recent months.  LET’S DO THIS

Overtime

Michael Jordan could face one of the toughest tasks of his career on Saturday, presenting his “little brother” Kobe Bryant ahead of his induction into the Naismith Hall of Fame (i.e., NBA – National Basketball Association - Hall of Fame) on Saturday. Other inductees include famed women’s college basketball coach Kim Mulkey (also presented by Michael Jordan, who is stepping in for her former boss who is ill) and NBA legend Tim Duncan. Sideline stat

The usually laborious task of creating the NFL (National Football League) season schedule was made a little easier thanks to technology. Instead of mulling over thousands of revisions of which teams plays which and on which TV network, the NFL enlisted the help of Amazon Web Services to narrow down the nearly billion options for each team. AWS took into account fairness, travel and stadium scheduling conflicts. The full schedule was released Wednesday. YET PEOPLE WILL STILL COMPLAIN

Coaches’ corner

The Forbes’ list of the world’s top 10 highest-paid athletes is out. Leading the charge isn’t who you think – it’s UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighter Conor McGregor, at a cool $180M. LeBron James is No. 5 on the list that also includes three soccer players, one Formula One driver, one tennis player, two NFL players and two NBA players. No female athletes made the list. What to watch

The second race of the Triple Crown is tomorrow and all eyes will be on Medina Spirit. The Kentucky Derby winner failed a drug test that could revoke its Derby win yet is still racing in the Preakness Stakes. Medina Spirit is still the favorite. One thing we’d never thought we’d say in regards to the race – rapper Grammy winner 2 Chainz will be performing. THAT TRACKS

Also, the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) regular season begins Saturday and so does the NHL (National Hockey League) playoffs..
