Cha-Ching

Today's reasons to celebrate -
1. It's Friday.
2. You're alive and well enough to read this.
3a. You have a holiday party tonight. (Fingers crossed, it's an ugly sweater one).
3b. No holiday party? Binge-watching "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" by the fire while wrapping gifts sounds lovely.

You made it,

World Cup (Soccer)

The World Cup is down to eight teams. They will play in another knockout round starting today. France will face England, the Netherlands will take on Argentina, Croatia will try to stop Brazil's squad, and Morocco will play Portugal. Morocco is the first Arab nation to make it to the semifinals.

Short and Sweet

  • WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) player Brittney Griner landed on American soil earlier today after a prisoner swap with Russia for her release.

  • Saturday night brings us the Heisman Trophy ceremony, where the best in football will take home the coveted trophy. The finalists are Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett, TCU quarterback Max Duggan, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud and USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

  • The congressional investigation into the Washington Commanders is getting even messier, and they're dragging the NFL (National Football League) down with them.

  • Tiger Woods returns to the course for the first time since July in the next installment of The Match. He will join teammate Rory McIlroy on Saturday against fellow golfers Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. The Match will benefit Hurricane Ian relief efforts.

Before We Go

This weekend is a unique tradition in college football that signifies the official end of the regular season. The Army-Navy game is the only major college football game this weekend. This game between respectful rivals dates back to 1890. This year, the Army uniforms will honor World War II troops, while the Navy will pay tribute to the NASA astronauts from their academy.
