News broke over the weekend that Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner (WNBA - Women's National Basketball Association) is being detained in Russia after customs officials said they found hashish oil in her luggage. Like so many WNBA players, Griner plays overseas in the off-season to earn additional cash and keep up her game. When asked about Griner, Secretary of State Antony Blinken gave a vague answer saying he couldn't comment on the exact case but that the US will "provide every possible assistance" to citizens held in foreign countries.
