It's time for a new NBA (National Basketball Association) season. If you're not much of a basketball fan, don't worry; there's something for everyone so that you can enjoy the season. We have much to unpack, from championship glory to unexpected offseason antics.
Denver Nuggets: Reigning Champions
First off, congratulations to the Denver Nuggets for clinching last season's NBA championship over the Miami Heat. Nikola Jokic was the star of the show, and during the off-season, he took a little detour from basketball. Instead of focusing on his MVP status, he lived his best life in Serbia with his racing horses. Jokic openly admitted that he'd rather be with his horses than on the basketball court. LeBron's 21st season
LeBron James, the legend himself, is entering his 21st NBA season. He turns 39 in December and often plays against opponents about half his age. He's aiming to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to their 18th championship. The man is already the league's leading scorer and enters a "gap year" before his son, Bronny, becomes draft-eligible. Introducing Victor Wembanyama
And last but not least, keep an eye out for the debut of No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama. He's set to make his first appearance on the second night of the season, playing for San Antonio against Dallas on October 25. This young talent promises to bring some excitement to the league, but even at 7'4", how will he hold up against bigger and stronger players like James and Jokic?
Load Management in the NBA
There are some new rules this season around load management. Teams have an average of 14 back-to-back games this season, with fewer involving travel than the previous year. The NBA is cracking down on teams resting star players, imposing hefty fines if they sit them during nationally televised or in-season tournament games. In-Season Tournament
This season, the NBA is introducing an exciting In-Season Tournament. It kicks off on November 3 and culminates with the Championship on December 9. Teams are divided into groups, and players compete for impressive cash prizes. Get all the tournament details here.
Off-Season Drama Galore
