COLLEGE BASEBALL WORLD SERIES
What to say to a newly engaged friend…The boys of college baseball love diamonds too. Oregon State defeated Mississippi State (and their rally banana) to reach the College World Series championship games. They'll face an Arkansas team that ousted the defending champions from Florida to reach their first finals in 39 years. (They’ve never won a College World Series title). The best-of-three championship series starts Monday. SCHEDULE
OVERTIME
Saudi Arabia was the only country in the world that prevented women from driving, until this weekend. Celebrating her country’s decision to overturn the law, Aseel Al-Hamad, the first female member of Saudi Arabian Motorsport Federation, took the wheel and fulfilled her dream to drive an F1 (Formula One) car before the French Grand Prix race yesterday. (F1 driver Lewis Hamilton took home the race’s checkered flag). FEEL THE POWER
SIDELINE STAT
We’re almost halfway through the World Cup and the teams will wrap up group play this week. Most of the teams that were favored are still in it, but there are plenty of teams who have already packed their bags, knowing they won’t advance to the next round. Could Lionel Messi and his Argentinian team be one of them? WHO’S IN AND WHO’S OUT?
COACHES’ CORNER
The empty feeling of being ditched by your ride is all too familiar to the San Diego Padres (MLB – Major League Baseball). Their team bus failed to show up to take them to play the San Francisco Giants. Thinking fast, their director of player and staff services flagged down an empty double-decker tour bus, negotiated a rate and then the team was on their way to the stadium in style, taking in the sights along the way. MAKING THINGS HAPPEN
WHAT TO WATCH
The ESPN Body Issue is out today featuring athletes in the nude (with their important bits strategically covered of course). PICS…Also, the NBA (National Basketball Association) Awards are tonight where the MVP and the highly contested battle for Rookie of the Year will be announced. PEOPLE ARE LOSING SLEEP OVER THIS

NFL (NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE)
America loves a great comeback story. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is headed back to the field eight weeks after breaking his collarbone. He’ll return with a few extra plates and screws in his surgically repaired collarbone to help his team, which is on the verge of the playoffs, finish out the season.
When you can't fit one more thing into your weekend. Starting this weekend the NFL will play two games to on Saturday. You can now catch an NFL game on Monday, Saturday or Sunday. If you’re playing in a fantasy football league, don’t forget to set your rosters. (FYI - Yesterday was the last Thursday Night Football game of the regular season).
MLB (MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL)
When decisions of the head and the heart collide. The St. Louis Cardinals were looking to make a trade and it seemed outfielder Stephen Piscotty was the guy. Piscotty missed some of last season to spend time with his mom who was diagnosed with ALS. Taking in account his family situation, amongst other things, Piscotty was traded to the Oakland A’s where he could be close to his mom.
OVERTIME
In the “this really happened” file, New York Jets player Jeremy Kerley (NFL) was suspended for four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy. How’d that banned substance get into his system? He blamed a ghost, specifically the Ghost of Christmas Past. No really. Apparently, he not only needs to avoid any questionable supplements but he should probably lay off the Disney Christmas cartoons.
SIDELINE STAT
Florida and Nebraska will play for the Women’s Volleyball National Championship on Saturday. Florida will be playing for their first national championship. Expect a big crowd as the semifinal game drew a record 18,000+ people, serving up the biggest crowd of all time.
