1. The Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros are playing in the 115th World Series. The Nationals are hoping to win their first ever franchise World Series and the Astros are striving for their second title win after winning their franchise first in 2017. The Astros are favored to win but the Nationals were fighters all season, so it’s anyone’s guess. (At the time of publication the Nationals are up 1-0 in the series). YOU'LL NEVER FORGET YOUR FIRST
2. There are a lot of good luck charms that have come into play for the Washington Nationals, who started off the season in the dumps (19-31 to be exact). Luck came in the form of the song "Baby Shark" and a four-legged friend. First, Gerardo Parra changed his walk-up song for his kids to the song we all love to hate, "Baby Shark." He broke out of a hitless slump and the song became a rally cry for the team. Then there’s Ryan Zimmerman, who adopted a rescue dog named Penny before the postseason and they went on to crush it after that. UNDERDOGS DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO
3. While the regular season saw balls fly out of the park at a record rate, this series is not likely to reflect that because these two teams boast some of the best pitchers in the league. When it comes to hitters at the plate, keep in mind that when the games are in an American League ballpark (Astros’ stadium) both teams will play with a designated hitter (DH), a batter specifically designated to hit in the place of the pitcher. When the teams play at the home of the Nationals, the designated hitter won’t exist as the National League does not play with a DH. A pitcher has to hit. 4. Your medical terminology for the day - Heterochromia iridis. That’s the condition that causes Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer to have two different color eyes. One is blue and the other is brown. THE EYES HAVE IT
5. Who says you have to be big and burly to be a professional athlete? Well, whoever did has never met Jose Altuve. Altuve is the Astros second baseman and has been the hero of the postseason. And he stands at 5’6.” Besides who needs to be big when your big, burly athlete friends in the Houston area have your back? The other Houston teams are in full support of their baseball team with players from the Houston Rockets (NBA – National Basketball Association) and Houston Texans (NFL – National Football League) supporting the team from the stands throughout the playoffs. Super Series. Last night’s World Series game saw a record setting number of home runs, more than a dozen different pitchers and a handful of lead changes, all in a five-plus hour game. The second longest game in World Series history ended with the Houston Astros on top. The teams will now head to Dodger Stadium for game six tomorrow. If the Astros win that game, they’ll be World Champions.
College Football
Celebrations ensue. There were two huge upsets in college football this weekend that you should know about. The first, Ohio State (#6) came from behind to beat an undefeated Penn State (#2). The second, Cinderella story Iowa State beat a previously undefeated TCU (Texas Christian University - #4) team. RESULTS
NFL (National Football League)
Remain defeated. The two winless NFL teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Cleveland Browns, lost again. Better luck next week. WEEKEND SCORES
Overtime
At only 32 years old, driver Lewis Hamilton has won his fourth F1 (Formula One) championship. Hamilton now claims the title of most accomplished British driver ever. Pretty impressive even if he does drive on the other side of the road.
Sideline stat
Five games. That's how many games Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel will be suspended next season for making a racist gesture toward a Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher. After hitting a home run off of him, Gurriel made a slanted eye gesture toward Japanese-Iranian pitcher Yu Darvish. Darvish accepted Gurriel's apology and said that everyone "should learn from this instead of focusing on anger."

Just in time for a good Halloween statistical scare, the first official college football playoff rankings will be released tomorrow. These rankings will give teams a good idea where they stand as it relates to the playoffs, although there is plenty of football left to be played.

He has performed in three halftime shows (remember nipplegate with Miss Jackson)?, but this will be the first time he’s flown solo. The first two games are in Dodgers stadium and ticket prices are absurd. On average, fans are shelling out $3,164 per seat and $888 for standing room only tickets.
Overtime
Martin Truex Jr. won Sunday’s NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) race, securing a spot in the next round of the playoffs. It was an emotional win for Truex, whose girlfriend is undergoing chemotherapy and one of this crew members passed away from a heart attack on Saturday night.
Sideline stat
The Phoenix Suns may only be three games into the season but with an 0-3 (wins-losses) record they felt it was time to fire their head coach Earl Watson. That escalated quickly.

On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints (NFL) won their fourth game in a row. To celebrate, head coach Sean Payton is rewarding his players with pedicures. We’re thinking it really had nothing to do with the wins, he was simply tired of looking at their feet.
