The drought is over for the Kansas City Chiefs. In a great battle between two stellar teams, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes announced he’s going to Disney World to celebrate being named the youngest player, 24, in NFL history to win an MVP award (2018), Super Bowl MVP and a Super Bowl trophy. His head coach, Andy Reid, finally claimed his first Super Bowl title after 20 years as a head coach. Surely the Chiefs “flu” is decimating office attendance this morning. DANCING IN THE STREETS
Overtime
One duo you could bet on? Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. The two killed it in their halftime show in outfits that made us question our choice to consume so many snacks. Their secret special guest performer? Emme – JLo’s daughter, who proved that she has pipes.
Then there were the commercials. The experts all loved Bill Murray, his Jeep co-pilot Punxsutaweney Phil and the commercial that took fate to make it happen. Tom Brady teased us earlier in the week, but showed us how smart he is to get paid to tell us he’s not going anywhere. Let’s not forget Sam Elliott facing off with Lil Nas X and Post Malone. Sideline stat
Meanwhile, down under we have two new Australian Open champions (tennis). The 21-year-old American Sofia Kenin won her first Grand Slam title (i.e winning one of the four major tournaments in tennis) but her proud dad and lifetime coach is the one who melted hearts. On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic won his eighth Australian Open title. WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION

Don’t worry, we didn’t forget the most important part of yesterday’s excitement. In a game of adoptable puppy cuteness, Team Fluff beat Team Ruff in the 16th Annual Animal Planet Puppy Bowl. What to watch

Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira aren’t the only ones heading to the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs and Jimmy Garoppolo and his San Francisco 49ers will be joining them. While the Chiefs celebrated their first trip to the Super Bowl since 1970, the 49ers celebrated by wearing shirts featuring their quarterback in his underwear. (Because why not)?
According to Vegas odds, the Chiefs are the slight favorites to win the game. Super Bowl 54 will take place in Miami on February 2. We'll have more big game insight leading up to it. BUT WILL THERE BE SNACKS?
Overtime
Somehow Rob Lowe became the most interesting part of the 49ers - Packers game. He was likely in the stands to promote his new TV show that aired after the game on the same network. But it was his hat, not his show, that sent the internet into a frenzy. MUST TRY TO BLEND IN
Sideline stat
Conor McGregor stepped back into the octagon Saturday night looking for his first win since 2016. His UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fight against the all-time wins leader Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone wasn’t at all what anyone expected. McGregor took him out in 40 seconds. Be glad you didn’t pay for it on Pay-Per-View. END OF STORY

NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) driver Kyle Larson has had a pretty decorated racing career including a win at Daytona. But his greatest victory, according to him, was this weekend at the Chili Bowl in Tulsa where he finally won the illusive dirt track title. He’s proof that you should try and try again - it was his 13th time driving in this dirt-race event. The NASCAR season starts with the Daytona 500 on February 16. RIDIN’ DIRTY
What to watch
The tennis season began yesterday (U.S. time) with the Australian Open. The tournament down under is the first major of the season (aka a Grand Slam Tournament). 1. The 100th NFL (National Football League) season starts on Thursday and culminates with the Super Bowl in Miami on February 2. Performances by Meek Mill, Meghan Trainor and Rapsody will kickoff the first game of the season that happens to be between two of the the league’s oldest rivals, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. The league is so excited about their 100th year that they’ve coined the phrase “fantennial” to celebrate fans along the way. DON’T LAUGH – YOU DIDN’T USE THE WORD GOOGLE UNTIL 20 YEARS AGO
2. While everyone expects the defending Super Bowl Champions, the New England Patriots, to do well this season, it’s the Cleveland Browns who are raising eyebrows. The team that went winless two seasons ago has set the bar high this season and could be one to beat, thanks to second year quarterback Baker Mayfield. THE SKY’S THE LIMIT
3. After some controversy around her Sunday Night Football song, Carrie Underwood has teamed up with Joan Jett to sing the show’s opener. For the first time in 14 years, the video for the opening song was shot inside an NFL stadium – Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons. 4. While you might think the most important people on the field are the guys in the helmets, it’s a little more black and white than that. With the team’s futures in their hands, the referees, and their game changing decision making minds, are only part-time employees. As part of a labor dispute between the NFL and the NFL Referees Association, all refs will be considered part-time until further notice. After some notable controversial calls last season, we’ll see if this status affects the game. PLACE YOUR BETS
5. Did you know the NFL used to be 501 (c)(6) non-profit? They voluntary gave up their tax-exempt status, which means they no longer have to disclose commissioner Roger Goodell’s salary, which has been upward of $31 million. MAKING BANK
