1. Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning will team up against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in “The Match: Champions for Charity” on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. The goal is of course to raise money for COVID relief efforts and the players have contributed $10 million total to four charities - DirectRelief.org, the American Red Cross, Save Small Business and the All-In Challenge. There will also be on-course challenges for the players to raise additional charitable funds. A HELPING HAND

2. Things are going to be getting a little wild at the Medalist Golf Club, Tiger Woods’ home course, as the players are allowed to wear shorts (a big no-no in the PGA – Professional Golfers Association). You might remember Phil Mickelson’s calves nearly broke the internet in a previous tournament. Speaking of chatter, the players will be mic’d up so you’ll have a front row seat to the trash talking, which has already started. BARING IT ALL

3. As if shorts weren’t spicy enough, NBA (National Basketball Association) Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and one of the top golfers in the world, Justin Thomas, will be providing commentary for the match. Barkley is known for his terrible golf swing, so his critique of the match should be top notch. BRINGING IN THE BIG GUNS

4. If this setup looks familiar, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson played each other back in 2018 with Mickelson taking home the $9 million prize. Not to be outdone, Manning and Brady have hit the links together and Manning said, “The last time we played, we got beat by an 84-year-old and a 77-year old." WELL THIS COULD BE ENTERTAINING

5. Due to social distancing, players will have to carry their own clubs and the teammates will act as each other’s caddy, talking through each shot on the course. In case you’re wondering, Manning has a better handicap (6.4 handicap) than Brady (8.1 handicap). Brady joked since Manning is retired he should have a better handicap. TOUCHÉ

(For the record, the lower the handicap the better the golfer. To have a single digit handicap means you’re darn good. To get technical on you, a handicap is a way to level the playing field. UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship)

UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) President Dana White is proof that persistence pays off. He has been determined to give the people what they want – UFC fights – and finally UFC 249 will take place on Saturday. The organization is taking extreme precautions, adhering to a 25-page safety plan. Everyone who is working on the event will be tested before they check into the host hotel. The fighters’ teams and staff will be wearing PPE (personal protection equipment) and there will be plenty of social distancing behind the scenes. One thing you can bet on? The fact that Pay-Per-View numbers are going to be through the roof with people are craving live sports content. GAME ON

Singer Ciara and her husband Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (National Football League) celebrated military moms-to-be stationed at Fort Hood during a virtual baby shower. The couple have a special place in their hearts for the military as Ciara was born at Fort Hood and grew up on military bases - her father was a member of the armed forces. The NFL released its schedule for the upcoming season and they’re planning on starting the season on time with a big matchup between veteran quarterbacks Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) and Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) on September 13. The Las Vegas Raiders will open up their new $1.9 billion home stadium on Monday Night Football.

Instead of talking trash to their upcoming opponents, the New York Jets used their Twitter account to say nice things about them and it was glorious. KILL THEM WITH KINDNESS

2. Tennis greats Steffi Graff and Andre Agassi started dating after the French Open in 1999 but their story goes back years before that. In 1992 both Graff and Agassi (who tried to pick up Graff the year before at the French Open) were winners at Wimbledon. 4. Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe are the unofficial first couple of women’s sports. The two have been dating since 2016 and are a fixture in the Seattle sports scene. The outspoken and seriously fashionable duo seem to have it all including a plethora of championships and safety deposit boxes for all their gold medals. They also have each other’s backs.
