Monday Minute - The World Series Jell-O Shot Challenge, Shaq's Good Deed And Small Crowds Make Headlines
Monday - here goes nothing.
Monday - here goes nothing.
Men’s College World Series
Let's start off with the Men's College World Series. LSU is dominating on the field in this double-elimination tournament, but where their fans are really dominating Rocco's Bar in the Jell-O Shot Challenge. The Shot Challenge takes place at a bar near the stadium, and those LSU fans are showing up with over 11,000 shots. compared to the next closest team with 4,700 shots. Kudos to you, LSU fans.
Good news
Shaq is known for his random acts of kindness, and look no further than him buying a washer and dryer for a family.
Golf
At the US Open, Wyndham Clark won his first career major, but the big headline at the US Open this year is the small crowds. The TV viewers were disappointed in the lack of excitement out of the 22,000 fans in attendance. 22,000 is less than half of the attendees at a US Open because the LA Country Club was a bit smaller grounds, and they had some challenges with people and logistics.
Last but not least
The NBA (National Basketball Association) draft is coming up this week, and that's one thing to keep an eye out for if you are a basketball fan. or if you hang out with basketball fans; it is on Thursday. Wemby is the guy to watch. He's the seven-foot-five friendship prospect, and he will likely be going to the San Antonio Spurs, who have the number one draft pick. Have a great week ahead.

UEFA Championship
Manchester City beat Inter Milan for the UEFA Championship League title this weekend. They also took home the “treble.” And what is the treble? It's the three major tournaments in soccer. Meaning the team won the FA Cup, which are English teams. They won the Premier League title, which includes English professional teams. And they won the Champions League title, which is European teams. Congrats to Man City on their big win.
NBA (National Basketball Association)/NHL (National Hockey League) FINals
Let's talk about South Florida. Both of their professional teams that are in the finals in their leagues are at the same 3-1 deficit. The Denver Nuggets pulled off a win this weekend over the Miami Heat, putting them up 3-1. The Nuggets can take home the title on Monday if they win. In the Stanley Cup Finals, the Vegas Golden Knights are up 3-1 against the Florida Panthers, and the Knights can take home their first title on Tuesday with a win.
French Open
Novak Djokovic had a phenomenal French Open, as he tends to do. He won his 23rd Grand Slam title. That is the most out of any man in the sport of tennis. He tied that record with Serena Williams and Margaret Court. On the women’s side, No. 1 ranked Iga Swiatek took home her third French Open title. The winners took home $2.5M in prize money, which is up 4.5% from last year.
PGA (Professional Golfers Association)
Nick Taylor sunk a 72-foot putt to win the Canadian Open. He's the first Canadian to win the Canadian Open in 69 years.

Monday Minute - What Bagels Have To Do With Tennis, The Pop-Tart Revival And The NBA Finals
News you need to start your week
Start your week off right with the breakfast food-themed edition of Monday Minute.
NBA (National Basketball Association) Playoffs
Let's start with the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat won against the Denver Nuggets last night to tie the series 1-1. The two teams will play again on Wednesday night. Fun fact I saw during the broadcast: this NBA Finals is broadcast in over 244 countries and in 60 different languages.
French Open (TENNIS)
Tennis’ Coco Goff is the only US woman left in the field at the French Open. But we're not talking about Coco because everyone's talking about bagels. Two-time French Open winner Iga Świątek beat one of her opponents with a double bagel, which is a score of 6-0, 6-0. That is what they call bagels in tennis, a 6-0 score. In a post-game interview, she was asked about the Twitter account called Iga's Bakery. She didn't like it because she thought it was disrespectful to her opponents. After all, you never know how people got there and what happened to them that day when she was able to beat them 6-0.
College football bowl game season
Lastly, let's wrap it up with another breakfast theme, the Pop-Tart Bowl. Well, we know college football bowl game season has a lot of exciting bowl game names, and the Cheez-It bowl is no longer. It has been replaced by the Pop-Tart Bowl. That's right; your childhood breakfast returns to life to watch football and eat. It will happen in December in Orlando, Florida.
Tonight
The Vegas Golden Knights are taking on the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight. Las Vegas is up one game to nothing.
