2. Former NBA (National Basketball Association) player Amare Stoudemire was known for bathing in red wine to help his post-game recovery, so it's no surprise that the former member of the Phoenix Suns and Israeli citizen created his own kosher wine. MAZEL TOV
3. A fine wine and announcer Jim Nantz have something in common. They're both smooth and are likely to put you to sleep (in a good way in Nantz's case) after consuming for an hour or two. Nantz, the soothing voice of the Masters and NFL on CBS, is behind the Healdsburg, CA winery The Calling. Also known for their time on the golf course and in the wine world are veteran golfers Ernie Els (Ernie Els Wines) and Greg Norman (Greg Norman Estates). SOMETHING TO TIE YOU OVER UNTIL GOLF RETURNS
4. LeBron James doesn't shy away from his admiration for wine, and neither do retired NBA players Dwyane Wade and Yao Ming. Ming is one of the tallest ever to play the game, and the Shanghai native is fully invested in his St. Helena, California vineyard. However, Yao Family Wines aren't your daily drinkers at around $100+ a bottle. Dwyane Wade's brand, Wade Cellars, resides in Napa Valley. 5. Venturing a bit further north than Napa Valley is "The Great One," Wayne Gretzky. 1. What do Lisa Vanderpump and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have in common? They want you to think of them at happy hour. Both Vanderpump and Johnson were successful, she as a restaurateur and he as a WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) wrestler, but they have used their platform to launch incredibly successful careers. Vanderpump has gone from “Housewives,” to “Vanderpump Rules” to a new show, “Overserved.” She’s added author, owner of a pet accessory company to her list and of course, her restaurant PUMP is on the must-see in Los Angeles list. We all know Johnson wants you to buy his Teremana tequila, watch his movies and indulge in his line with Under Armor, Project Rock. WHAT CAN’T THEY DO?
2. Our next two are known for doing some shady sh*t. Enter in Jen Shah and baseball’s own Lenny Dykstra. We all know that Shah was indicted for her alleged role in a long-running telemarketing scheme. If convicted, she could go to jail for up to 50 years. Dykstra went from the top of the world as a World Series winner to prison. Long story short, post-baseball he claimed to have a 100% hit rate at picking winning stocks and convinced people to jump on board his bandwagon, including the money man himself - Jim Cramer. Eventually, Dykstra filed for bankruptcy and went to prison. DOWNWARD SPIRAL
3. The “Malice at the Palace” makes the infamous Teresa table flip look like child’s play. A 2004 tussle on the court led to a fan throwing a beer on Detroit Pistons’ Ron Artest (NBA – National Basketball Association). Instead of having security take care of it, Artest charged up into the stands and beat the crap out of said beer thrower. As you can imagine, the league didn’t think highly of this and Artest was suspended for the rest of the season (and the incident was about four weeks into the season). THERE’S NO “I” IN TEAM
4. You’d never thought we’d compare Ramona Singer and Heather Dubrow to an NBA star but the resident fashionistas and Russell Westbrook have a lot in common with their own clothing/accessory lines. Russell Westbrook is known for his sometimes over-the-top postgame looks. He launched Honor The Gift, featuring athleisure-driven clothing as well as high-end athletic wear called Westbrook XO for Barneys. Other proud owners of a fashion-related business are Serena Williams (Serena), Tony Hawk (Birdhouse and Hawk Clothing), Venus Williams (EleVen) and Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7). FASHION MEETS FITNESS
5. “The Scum Bunch” might be how fans feel about some of the men on the series, but they had nothing on the dastardly deeds of the 1986 New York Mets team. (“The Scum Bunch” was the nicest thing that was said about the team that we could put in print). There were tales of members of the team destroying airplanes by throwing cake and steaks (different flights), doing performance-enhancing drugs and massive lines of cocaine, drinking, chasing women, fighting and the list goes on. 1. If you become an NFL (National Football League) cheerleader, you're not doing it for the money. On average, they make under $10/hour and with practices, appearances and games, they put in 30-40 hour weeks during the season. For the most part, they are not reimbursed for money spent maintaining their team-defined appearance. (Think coloring their hair, uniforms, makeup, etc). Cheerleaders are often required to have another full-time job or be a full-time student. (Yes, being a mother does count as a full-time job in this case). There have been many lawsuits against teams over their pay, and some teams have settled. In the case of the Buffalo Bills, they disbanded their cheer squad altogether. SEEKING THE SILVER LINING
2. The NFL's most famous pom-pom wielding gals, the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, have a vigorous application process that includes a written test with questions like "Name a member of Biden's cabinet? or "How many yards are assessed for a personal foul penalty?" In fact, a few years back, ESPN talked 12 Cowboys players into taking the test and…they failed. BRAINS AND BEAUTY
3. The cheerleaders are required to maintain a particular look (see above) because if they don't, they can be benched without pay for violating their contract. Some team's cheer coaches conduct "jiggle tests" to assess the firmness of the cheerleader's bodies during the season, and if they don't pass the test, they're benched. Others have a height-to-weight ratio requirement intended to make sure the cheerleaders do not become too skinny. (NOT) BODY POSITIVE
4. While there are six NFL teams without cheerleaders - Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers. The Los Angeles Rams broke down barriers by having male cheerleaders on their squad. SHARING THE SIDELINE
5. The film "A Woman's Work: The NFL's Cheerleader Problem" follows the league's "general insensitivity toward women" and the lawsuits over low pay (crediting the NFL's greed). It even covers some of the inner workings of the sport, such as cheerleader handbooks that "patronizingly mansplain how to use cutlery and tampons."
