What Are The Chances?

How a shoe is shaking up the sports world, who's driving for a change and long-lost twins?

Life is full of coincidences so take matters into your own hands by being armed with the sports knowledge to join the conversation.

So you’re saying there’s a chance?

The Last Night’s Game Team

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

The biggest name in college basketball, Duke’s Zion Williamson blew it in front of a record rivalry game crowd that included former president Barack Obama. Williamson blew out his shoe and possibly his knee. Coincidentally, Nike’s stock dropped after the tragedy, although that may or may not have been related to the issues people were having with their self-lacing shoes. AND YOU THOUGHT GETTING YOUR HEEL STUCK IN A SUBWAY GRATE WAS BAD

OVERTIME

A nine-year-old girl has decided to take matters into her own hands. After losing while playing a MLB-licensed (Major League Baseball) game at Chuck E. Cheese, the game taunted her when it said “there’s always softball.” She was upset because it made softball seem like a bad sport so she wrote the game manufacturer, MLB and Chuck E. Cheese. Her letter has already sparked change. MAKING THINGS HAPPEN

SIDELINE STAT

Two minor league baseball players are making people do a double take. They’re both named Brady Feigl, both are 6’4” pitchers, both have red hair and wear thick rimmed glasses. The only difference is they play for different teams. They decided to take a DNA test to see if they were long-lost twins but despite the anticipation, they’re not. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?

COACHES’ CORNER

A handful of NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) drivers including Chase Elliott will wear special DESI9N TO DRIVE shoes in this weekend’s race. The shoes were designed by children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and they’ll be auctioned off post-race to benefit the organization’s summer camp. DRIVING FOR CHANGE

WHAT TO WATCH

The Academy Awards are this weekend and it's a perfect excuse to relax and watch Oscar winning movies. If you need some suggestions, here are five Academy Award-winning sports movies. AND THE OSCAR GOES TO...

Friday I’m In Love

A cheapskate golfer controversy, NBA All-Star weekend and one player's sh*tty nickname.

It’s the best kind of Friday because all of the Valentine’s Day candy is now on sale.

Sports and sugar = a winning combination,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NBA (NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION)

The NBA All-Star Game is this weekend in Charlotte. The highlight of the weekend is usually the skills competition, which includes the slam dunk contest and the three-point shooting contest. It’ll be a homecoming weekend for the Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry, who will take on his brother, Seth - who plays for the Portland Trailblazers, in the three-point contest. BROTHERLY LOVE

Team captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo, will attempt to lead their handpicked teams to victory on Sunday. BRING IT ON

OVERTIME

The Toronto Argonauts (CFL – Canadian Football League) signed a new player and he’s drumming up a lot of attention. Not only because of his play on the field, but because his nickname is Poop. No that’s not a spelling error - poop. Apparently, he’s a frequent bathroom visitor, hence the nickname. HE’S THE SH*T

SIDELINE STAT

This could be the most controversial topic since Laurel and Yanny. Golfer Matt Kuchar decided to enter a tournament last minute and his regular caddie was unable to make it. Kuchar hired a caddie from the local course in Mexico with an agreement that he would make $3,000. Kuchar ended up winning the tournament and nearly $1.3 million in prize money. He tipped his caddie $5,000. PGA (Professional Golfers Association) Tour caddies make 10% of the golfer's earnings and while many have said he didn’t do all the work the regular caddies typically do to warrant 10%, that he should’ve tipped him a bit more. DID HE GET THE SHAFT?

COACHES’ CORNER

The NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) season begins this Sunday with the iconic Daytona 500. Keep an eye on William Byron, who is starting at the pole position (or essentially in first place). Byron is only 21-years-old and is still in college. For more on the race that starts it all, check out our Five Things To Know. FAST TRACK

WHAT TO WATCH

Actress Regina King was minding her business courtside at a New York Knicks game, when seven-foot-tall Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers ran after a loose ball, jumped over her head and creamed the guy sitting behind her. She almost ended up with a shiner for next weekend’s Oscars, and not the good kind. SHOW US PLEASE

Did you hear?

The Last Nights Game Team

NBA (NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION)

Yesterday, team captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo picked their NBA All-Star teams old school P.E. class-style. Even though they don’t have any players in that big game, the New York Knicks are still winning. The team landed the number one spot on the Forbes list of most valuable NBA teams, with a value of $4 billion. YOU WIN SOME, YOU LOSE SOME

OVERTIME

New Orleans Saints (NFL - National Football League) fans boycotted this year’s Super Bowl after the egregious missed call that may have cost their team a spot in the Super Bowl. But one Saints fan took it to extreme. According to his obituary, it was better to die than watch the big game. THAT’LL SHOW ‘EM

SIDELINE STAT

If a week without football has you going through withdrawals, you’re in luck. The brand new Alliance of American Football League (AAF) starts this weekend and will feature players with NFL level talent playing on one of the eight teams. The season will last until April and their rules are a little different than the NFL. COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU

COACHES’ CORNER

Major League Baseball (MLB) has been floating ideas around that would improve the game, from pitching changes to an universal designated hitter. As opposed to implementing new, controversial and game changing rules, they opted to rename the disabled list to the injured list. EARTH SHATTERING

WHAT TO WATCH

The Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL – National Hockey League) traveled in style to their outdoor practice. They hopped on the subway in their full uniforms (pads and all) and gave their fellow commuters quite a surprise. HELMETS ON THE SUBWAY? SMART.
