The World Series heads to Washington, D.C. tonight and the home team, the Washington Nationals, are up 2-0 in the seven game series against the heavily favored Houston Astros. It’s been a rough week for the Astros between their losses on the field and yesterday they fired their assistant general manager for his locker room tirade toward female reporters. On a brighter note, the Nationals Juan Soto will be celebrating his 21st birthday today by playing in the World Series. BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER?

You might remember the story about how a few lucky people would have the chance to stay in the famed Goodyear blimp for a night. Being the tallest man in the NBA (National Basketball Association) has its perks but everyday life isn’t always easy. The Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall, who stands at 7-foot-5, is in concussion protocol (i.e. is under the care of doctors and not playing) because he hit his head on a low ceiling while washing his hands. This isn’t the first time he’s injured himself in an everyday situation. He once gave himself a concussion from walking into a door frame. HEADS UP

The San Francisco 49ers are undefeated this season and surely it’s no coincidence that they have the NFL’s (National Football League) first emotional support dog. The team adopted Zoë the French Bulldog last season and she is there to help the players with stress, depression and anxiety. She even documents the perks of her job on her own Instagram account. What to watch
The White House shared that President Trump will attend game five of the World Series in Washington, D.C. on Sunday. The president, who will attend but not throw out the first pitch, better cheer for the Astros to win at least one game, otherwise there will be no game five if the Nationals keep up their winning streak. Football fans everywhere totally freaked out last night as reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, left the game with a knee injury. Trainers were able to massage his kneecap back into place (ew!) but after taking him back to the locker room they immediately ruled him out of the game. He will undergo an MRI to determine the damage. Mahomes is known for being a fierce competitor on the field but also as the quarterback who loves ketchup so much that he puts it on everything, including steak ala “Miss Congeniality.” (Last year he signed a deal with Heinz Ketchup). Tariffs aren’t the only scandal that rocking China-U.S. relations. The tweet heard round the world from the Houston Rockets general manager now has another chapter to the story. The NBA (National Basketball Association) commissioner revealed that "Chinese interests" asked him to fire the Rockets general manager over his tweet in support of pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong. (For the record, the NBA has rejected this request and has supported the GM’s right to free speech all along). THE SAGA CONTINUES

Fans of the club that plays in the soccer league that is one step down from MLS (Major League Soccer) love it not only because the beer is cheap but because the team is undefeated on $1 beer nights. The team plays their last game of the season where George Washington can buy you a beer, but can they hold onto the record? HOW LONG IS THE LINE FOR THE BATHROOM?

The Cleveland Browns (NFL) season hasn’t exactly been off to a great start and a fan relayed that to Browns player Myles Garrett in a not so graceful way. The “Browns Fan” asked to take a photo with Garrett while sitting in traffic and afterward punched the 6’4” player in the face. The puncher fled the scene but was later caught because Garrett wrote down his license plate. APPARENTLY NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE FAN CLUB
What to watch
With another win last night over the New York Yankees (MLB - Major League Baseball), the Houston Astros are one win away from claiming a spot in the World Series. The winner of the Astros-Yankees series will play the Washington Nationals in the World Series that starts on Tuesday. BATTER UP

For the first time in 40 years, and after pressure from world governing body FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and women's rights campaigners, women were allowed to attend a men’s soccer match in Iran. Tickets sold out in minutes for the FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Iran and Cambodia. The home team won 14-0. EVERYONE WINS
Overtime
Halloween will come a bit early for the Purdue University football team. This weekend they’ll be wearing all white uniforms that mimic an astronaut suit as part of their moon-themed uniforms. Why you ask? It’s because Purdue has produced the most astronauts out of any school not affiliated with the U. S. Military. TO INFINITY AND BEYOND

What to watch
There are some big college football matchups this weekend but one rivalry that spans generations is the showdown between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. In its 115th year, the “Red River Rivalry” takes place on neutral territory at the Texas State Fair and will feature a battle between two of the best quarterbacks in the game – Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) and Sam Ehlinger (Texas).
