To say that last night’s rivalry game between the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers was a hot mess is an understatement. After multiple hits that left players with concussions, the Browns’ Myles Garrett ripped the helmet off of Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and then swung it at his head. Not cool. So not cool that even Garrett’s teammate, quarterback Baker Mayfield, said it was an “inexcusable” move. Expect a hearty suspension, possibly the rest of the season, to be handed down by the NFL today for Garrett. HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT
Overtime
This lawsuit could change youth sports forever. A high school baseball coach was sued by his former player for telling him to slide into third base during a game. The slide resulted in a catastrophic ankle injury that almost resulted in amputation. The player, now 22, sued the coach and school stating the coach’s call reckless. After a legal battle that took months, the jury sided with the coach. WHAT’S NEXT? MALPRACTICE INSURANCE FOR COACHES?

Colin Kaepernick hasn’t played in the NFL since January 1, 2017 but that may soon change. The NFL informed teams earlier this week that they set up a private workout on Saturday and invited all 32 NFL teams to attend with the intent to show Kaepernick’s readiness to play for a team. Some are questioning the league’s motives as most of the team’s big decision makers (i.e. coaches) travel with their teams on Saturday to play on Sunday. Regardless of the short notice, Kaepernick said he’s ready. NO PRESSURE

It’s about to go down in Miami on Sunday. The “Championship Four” will race to claim the NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) title. While you’ll see all the drivers racing out on the track, keep an eye out for Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick whose cars will all have a green painted fender, labeling them as one of the four remaining drivers eligible for the championship. The most anticipated game of the college football season is this weekend between Alabama (#3) and LSU (Louisiana State - #2). It’s such a big deal that not only will ESPN College GameDay be there but so will President Trump. A 17-time national champion, Alabama has been a dominant force in college football in the last decade, bringing in $111 million in revenue last season. Can LSU bring it? TIME WILL TELL

If you ran for president, would you vote for yourself? In Tiger Woods’ case, the obvious answer is yes. After being encouraged by other players, Woods added his name to the U.S. Presidents Cup roster, which he can do because he’s the U.S. team captain. Fresh off of an August knee surgery, Woods and his teammates will take on a team made up of players from all over the world, minus Europe, for the Cup in early December. PICK ME, PICK ME

Los Angeles Clippers (National Basketball Association) head coach Doc Rivers found out the hard way that lying won’t get you anywhere. He was fined $50,000 for not being transparent on why his star Kawhi Leonard wasn’t playing. (He said Leonard’s knee was great when the team had claimed he was nursing an injury). The NBA has cracked down on teams hiding information or misinforming the public this season to keep it competitive on the court and in the sports books. PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS

If you're only going to watch one NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) race this season, this Sunday's race in Phoenix is the one to watch. This is the last chance for the eight remaining drivers to qualify for next week’s NASCAR Championship. The guys everyone expected to win, like Denny Hamlin, are going to have to fight their way back to make it but they’ll have to get past Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick to get there. Plan on high tensions, fists flying and fast cars. IT’S GOING TO BE BANANAS
What to watch
Talk about a grudge match. For the third time in four seasons, the Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC (Football Club) will meet up in the MLS (Major League Soccer) Cup, i.e the championship for MLS, on Sunday. HERE’S THE SKINNY

It’s the fastest weekend in America with the New York City Marathon and the Circuit of the Americas race (F1- Formula One) in Austin. Over 50,000 runners will line up to run the streets of the city that never sleeps. Joining them is a long list of celebrity runners including former bachelorette Andi Dorfman, actress Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is The New Black”), Richard Blais (“Top Chef”) and a whole host of former professional athletes. If you’re looking for the tailgate of the weekend, it's undoubtedly at the Florida – Georgia game. Dubbed “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” in the 1950s, the border clash game between the two schools takes place on neutral territory in Jacksonville, FL. But the game of the week, and the spot where you can catch ESPN College GameDay is in Memphis and is between SMU (#15 – Southern Methodist University) and Memphis (#24). WHO’S UP FOR MIMOSAS?

After years of domination by New Zealand, two new teams are vying for the Rugby World Cup trophy on Saturday. After a five-week tournament, England and South Africa will take the field in Japan for one last game. While both teams have won before, should South Africa win, they’ll be the first team to ever have lost a game in the tournament and battle their way back to the finals.
