Midnights

The Sports Equinox, a laughable Olympic-worthy tattoo, the worst week ever for the Commanders and this week's Tailgate Treat

Did you stay up to listen to Taylor Swift's new album drop at midnight? Well, if you're a Texas fan, you should have. According to "The Morning Brew," since 2006, the University of Texas football team is 8–1 in games following a TSwift album drop.

Cheers to the weekend,
The Last Night's Game

Sports Are The Universe

If a full moon makes people crazy, imagine what a Sports Equinox does around here. What's a Sports Equinox? It's when all four major professional sports play on the same day - MLB (Major League Baseball), NBA (National Basketball Association), NHL (National Hockey League) and NFL (National Football League). It's a record year with four Sports Equinoxes. There was one yesterday, back-to-back days this Sunday and Monday, then another on Halloween.

According to CBS, There was a 16-year period from 1985 - 2001 without a single Sports Equinox. They have been happening more often because of the NFL's Thursday Night Football, which officially debuted in 2006. OUT OF THIS WORLD

*Side note, yes, we're also in the midst of MLS (Major League Soccer) playoffs, but they're not (yet) considered one of the big four.

Short and Sweet

  • The Oregon Ducks football team is known for its snazzy uniforms (thanks to Nike founder Phil Knight, an alum). This week they're debuting Breast Cancer Awareness unis as ESPN College GameDay heads to town.

  • Times are rough for the Washington Commanders (NFL). It appears the NFL owners have enough votes to oust team owner Dan Snyder. Then the winner of the 50/50 raffle for charity says the check from the team bounced.

  • Olympic medalist Jan Scherrer loses a bet with his wife, resulting in this hilarious and not-so-artistic tattoo.

Before We Go

Let's Get Ready To Rumble

No veggies and no gym is how Rory McIlroy rolls, LeBron's number is headed to the rafters - but not because of his game and this week's Tailgate Treat.

Prim and proper or poolside, sports suit every social situation.

The sweet smell of summertime success,

NFL (National Football League)

Football is back, kind of. It's only the preseason, but we have three straight nights of football ahead of us. (There were games last night too). Don't expect to see many of the big players you know. Aaron Rodgers isn't playing because he thinks it is pointless, and Tom Brady is out for 11 days due to personal reasons. Regardless, there will be plenty of talent on the field for football fans to get excited over. SMELLS LIKE FALL

Before We Go

The PGA's (Professional Golfers Association) FedEx Playoffs begin this weekend, and you won't see players from the LIV golf league playing, but you will see a recharged Rory McIlroy. After losing in the Open Championship, McIlroy hit ctrl + alt + del, saying, "I didn't touch a club, didn't see the inside of a gym, probably didn't eat a vegetable." NOW ONLY IF WE COULD GET PAID TO DO THAT TOO

Here Comes The Sun

ESPN the Ocho is back, Pete Rose returns, if it's possible, the LIV-PGA feud is more disastrous than before and this week's Tailgate Treat.

Cheers to Paul, Ringo, John and George for giving us a tune that says exactly how we feel about a Friday.

Glad you're here,
The Last Night's Game Team

PS: In case that didn't make sense, the guys are the members of the Beatles who sang "Here Comes The Sun."

ESPN8: The Ocho

Today is the day that all of the seldom seen sports of the world get their day in the sun. Inspired by the Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn flick "Dodgeball" The Movie," ESPN8: The Ocho takes over ESPN2 for 24 hours and features some of the world's most outrageous sporting events. This year, you can expect to see some sports you've heard of, such as axe throwing, Wiffle ball and, of course, dodgeball. The day also features new contests like slippery stairs, Pogopalooza and the air guitar championships. CALLING PATCHES O'HOULIHAN

Before We Go

The Muirfield Golf Club in Scotland is hosting the Women's British Open this weekend, but the 130-year-old club wasn't always a fan of the ladies. They did not allow women to be members until 2017. The best female golfers like Jessica Korda will hit the links for their share of $7.3M in prize money. Although Korda's suitcase never made it to Scotland. Family members and fellow golfers have literally been covering her buns by loaning her clothes to compete. A GOOD SPORT
