Weekend Preview: London, Free Cars + We’re Not Talking About Taylor Swift

Come together through the power of sports.

Whether you're a sports enthusiast or a novice, there are plenty of opportunities to bond and build connections through athletic events. In this weekend preview, we'll explore some exciting sports-related happenings and how they can serve as a bridge to connect with your loved ones and colleagues.

Hooray FOr Free Trucks

The Utah Utes and The Crimson Collective have pieced together a unique NIL (Name, Image, Likeness). All 85 scholarship players will receive brand-new Dodge Ram trucks, including insurance coverage.

For more on NIL and its impact on collegiate sports, check out our interview with Ayden Syal, CEO of MOGL.

London Bound

Sports often create opportunities for travel and cultural experiences. The Jacksonville Jaguars are making history by playing back-to-back games in London. They’re playing against the Buffalo Bills. Will London have enough tables for the Bills Mafia to jump through?

MLB (Major League Baseball) Playoffs and Exciting Matchups

The MLB postseason is in full swing, with the Rangers, Twins, Diamondbacks and Phillies advancing after each team swept their opponent in their respective wild card series. The division series starts this Saturday, and one matchup to watch is the Braves vs. Phillies. With the No.1 seed Braves taking on the Phillies' in their quest to return to the World Series, it promises to be an exciting series. Could Phillies fans be the game changer in this series? They have proved to be in the past.

WNBA (WOmen’s National Basketball Association) Finals

For fans of women's sports, the WNBA Finals are set to begin on Sunday, October 8th. This year, it's all about the "super teams" – the defending champion Las Vegas Aces and the star-studded New York Liberty. This series will undoubtedly give us all phenomenal basketball to watch.

What I’m watching

This weekend, I’m watching the “Kelce” documentary on Amazon Prime that follows Jason Kelce, the center for the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) and brother of Travis Kelce, last season. If you want an insight into the family that has welcomed Taylor Swift, here you go.

Sports provide a fantastic way for bonding, whether through attending games, discussing matchups, or sharing the stories of athletes and teams. So, this weekend, consider how you can leverage the world of sports to strengthen your connections at work and home.

Weekend Preview: Taylor Swift Strikes Again, NFL Goes Toy Story + Celebs Show Up For (Coach) Prime

Look what you made me do

Are you ready for another weekend packed with exciting sports, celebrity sightings, and a dash of pop culture? You know we are. Here's your Weekend Preview to keep you in the loop and armed with conversation starters for your next office chat, date night or family gathering.

Taylor Swift Takes Over the NFL AGAIN (National Football League)

First, the incomparable Taylor Swift is making waves in the football world. We've all seen her putting Travis Kelce on the map, but her influence on the NFL is mind-blowing. Rumor has it that she'll be attending the Sunday night game between the Chiefs and the Jets, and the impact is already evident. Vivid Seats reports a staggering 173% spike in traffic regarding the game. It seems Taylor's star power knows no bounds.

Jets injured QB Aaron Rodgers took in a Taylor Swift concert over the summer, where an average concert ticket went for 1300. The average ticket to the Jets-Cheifs game on Sunday is $232.

Colorado Buffalos vs. USC: The Celebrity Showdown

Speaking of unforgettable experiences, the Colorado Buffaloes are still riding the hype train despite a tough loss to Oregon. This Saturday morning, they face reigning Heisman trophy winner Caleb Williams and USC. But here's the real kicker – the list of celebrities attending is a who's who of Hollywood:

  • LeBron James

  • Jay Z

  • Matthew McConaughey

  • Lil Wayne

NFL Takes a Playdate with "Toy Story Funday Football"

Here's a twist that'll make your inner child squeal with delight. The Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars are jetting across the pond for the first international game of the season in London. For this one, you'll need to wake up early at 9:30 am Sunday. But wait, there's more! This game has a unique alternate viewing event, "Toy Story Funday Football," available on Disney+, ESPN+, and NFL+ (mobile only).

Imagine animated Falcon and Jaguar players running around on a traditional-looking field in Andy's room. It's a game like you've never seen before – perfect for family fun or a unique sports-watching experience.

Haley Van Voorhis: Breaking Barriers in College Football

Keep an eye out this weekend for a historic moment in college football. Haley Van Voorhis made history last week by becoming the first female non-kicker or punter to play in an NCAA College Football game. She's a junior at Shenandoah University, and we're rooting for her to rack up even more playing time this weekend.

MLB (Major League baseball) Regular Season Wraps Up

Last but not least, the MLB regular season ends this Sunday. Interestingly, the New York Mets, New York Yankees and San Diego Padres boasted the three top payrolls in baseball this season, collectively spending $880M on player salaries. Yet, all three will watch from home when the MLB playoffs kick off next week. Here’s who’s in and out.

Enjoy the Taylor Swift magic, the star-studded USC vs. Colorado showdown, "Toy Story Funday Football," and all the other exciting sports action this weekend. Stay active, adventurous and ready to conquer office and home life. Cheers to a fabulous weekend ahead!

Weekend Preview: It’s The Halley’s Comet Of College Football, Color Changing Cleats + So Long Playoffs

It’s rarified air up here.

Photos: Instagram/goducks

Get ready to plant yourself on the couch this Saturday because it will be a college football showdown. We have a lineup that'll keep fans glued to the screen, and trust me, you won't want to miss this one.

Saturday's College Football Extravaganza

This Saturday, college football fans are in for a treat. It's like the Halley's Comet of college football weekends. Why, you ask? Hold onto your helmets because we have more ranked teams facing off than we've seen in a long, long time. It's the most since 2006. So, if you're married to, work with, or have a college football-obsessed child, don't expect them to budge from that couch.

Color-Changing Cleats Steal the Show

Oregon, known for their flashy uniforms, is stepping up their game. They're going up against Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes and doing it in style. Oregon will be donning Nike cleats that are heat-activated and color-changing. You'll want to tune in to see these cleats in action.

Notre Dame vs. Ohio State Showdown

It's not just about flashy cleats, though. We have some intense matchups on the field. Watch for the No. 6 Ohio State taking on No. 9 Notre Dame. Fun fact: Notre Dame is 0-2 all-time against Ohio State when "ESPN College GameDay" is in town. And speaking of "GameDay," the Sept. 23rd meeting between Notre Dame and Ohio State will mark the 35th time the Fighting Irish host college football's premier preview show.

WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) Playoffs Heat Up

The WNBA playoffs are in full swing, and the top four seeded teams are battling for a shot at the championship. We have the No. 1 Las Vegas Aces, No. 2 NY Liberty, No. 3 Connecticut Sun, and No. 4 Dallas Wings all vying for that coveted title. The Aces and Sun have been semifinal regulars for five consecutive seasons, but the Liberty and Wings want to shake things up. Will the super teams prevail, or will the underdogs have their day?

Playoff Dreams and 0-3 Nightmares

Now, here's a little something for the stat geeks. It's only week 3, but for some NFL teams, the postseason dreams could slip away if they start 0-3. Since 1979, only six teams have defied the odds and made the playoffs after such a rough start. This week, we've got the Chargers taking on the Vikings, both sitting at 0-2. Other 0-2 teams facing pivotal matchups include the Bears against the Chiefs, the Bengals vs. the Rams, the Broncos taking on the Dolphins, the Cardinals facing off against the Cowboys, the Patriots battling the Jets, the Panthers in a showdown and the Texans going head-to-head with the Jaguars.

Here’s to the weekend!
