We’re serving up spooky good icebreakers for your Halloween weekend.
1. The World Series begins tonight
The much-anticipated World Series (MLB - Major League Baseball) begins tonight, featuring an unlikely matchup between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Believe it or not, two years ago, both teams suffered through seasons where they lost more than 100 games. But here they are, ready to compete for baseball's most prestigious title. The Rangers have even turned to the power of music by using Creed's songs to boost their postseason aspirations.
Keep an eye on two standout players – Corbin Carrol of the Diamondbacks, the favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year after an impressive debut season, and Adolis Garcia, the American League Championship Series MVP, who is currently on fire.
Oh, and don't forget the "Steal A Base Steal A Taco" promotion from Taco Bell – it's back for more excitement this World Series.
2. History in the Making: Female Notre Dame Leprechaun
This Saturday, for the first time, a female student will portray Notre Dame's iconic Leprechaun mascot at a football game. Kylee Kazenski will step into the mascot's green suit. She’s one of two women selected for Notre Dame's Leprechaun lineup for the 2023-24 school year.
3. The Ultimate Wardrobe Whoops
We've all had those moments when we've packed the wrong outfit for a trip, right? The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) recently had a similar mishap. They accidentally left their road white jerseys in El Paso and wore their home blue jerseys for a Wednesday night game at Sam Houston. The result? UTEP in blue and the Bearkats in orange; quite kind of the hosts to change their uniforms to accommodate.
And speaking of uniforms, the Tennessee Titans (NFL - National Football League) wearing their "throwbacks" has sparked a debate. While these throwbacks are some of the best in the league, they pay tribute to the Houston Oilers, a franchise that left Houston for Nashville and became the Titans.
4. If you’re on Taylor Swift watch
Lastly, don't forget to tune in on Sunday afternoon as the Kansas Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos.
So, ladies, this weekend promises a rollercoaster of emotions and unexpected moments in the sports world. From the World Series to female empowerment with the Notre Dame Leprechaun and even wardrobe mishaps, there's something for everyone. Grab your popcorn and prepare for a fantastic weekend of sports and surprises!

This week in the world of sports has a little something for everyone, from groundbreaking news in the NFL to the thrilling anticipation of college football and the high-speed excitement of Formula 1.
NFL <3 Flag Football + NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's Extended Reign
Flag football is making its way to the Olympic stage, and the NFL is encouraging its players to participate, giving the USA a distinct advantage. Speaking of the NFL, Commissioner Roger Goodell has recently received a contract extension through 2027. Goodell's tenure, which began in 2006, will span over two decades by the contract's end. While the NFL gave up its tax-exempt status, making Goodell's salary confidential, it's reported that he earned a staggering $63.9M annually for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
Penn State vs. Ohio State: The College Football Showdown
Switching gears to college football, all eyes are on the upcoming match-up between the undefeated Penn State and Ohio State. This game has everyone buzzing; even College GameDay is in town to capture the excitement. Did you know that Penn State's Beaver Stadium and Ohio State's Ohio Stadium are ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in terms of maximum fan capacity? It's no wonder these two football giants have such passionate and devoted fan bases. The anticipation is building, and the game promises an unforgettable showdown.
F1 (Formula 1) Returns to Its American Roots
The global phenomenon of F1 returns to its American origins in Austin, Texas. While many are watching Max Verstappen, the three-time World champion, after his recent victory in Qatar, we have our eyes on fan-favorite Daniel Ricciardo. After recovering from injury, he's set to make his comeback. Remember him for his iconic "shoey"? We hope his entrance matches his famous stunt, perhaps with a cowboy twist, as he rides into the paddock.
Deal of the Week: NLCS Ticket Prices
This week's deal of the week is all about the NLCS. The "Get-in" price for Game 3 in Phoenix dropped by a staggering 90% to just $15 after the D-backs' 10-0 defeat in Game 2. In contrast, the "get-in" price for Game 1 in Philadelphia was a whopping $467. Ticket prices may go up now with the Dbacks finally winning a game last night. The Phillies still lead the series 2-1. The winner will head to the World Series, facing off against either the Texas Rangers or the Houston Astros.

Weekend Preview: Sailgating, Taylor’s Back + Creed Takes Us ‘Higher’
Freaky Friday.

This weekend is about women taking center stage (yes, Taylor Swift was at the Kansas City Chiefs game last night), from heart-pounding WNBA finals to women shattering glass ceilings in the sports world. Let's dive into a weekend filled with sailgating, the ultimate showdowns, and a dash of nostalgia for good measure.
1. Aces in Command: Dominating the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association Finals
The Las Vegas Aces have been making headlines with their dominant performance in the WNBA Finals. With a convincing 2-0 lead in the series, they're headed to New York for Game 3 on Sunday. Even more impressive is that Game 1 became the most-watched WNBA Finals Game 1 ever on an ESPN network, peaking at 885,000 viewers! It's a thrilling time for women's basketball, and these athletes undoubtedly inspire women of all ages.
2. Astros vs. Rangers: A Texan Showdown
Heading to the baseball playoffs, the Texas Rangers anthem "Higher" by Creed has moved them onto the AL Championship Series against their instate rivals, the Houston Astros. Can you feel the excitement in the air? Both teams are arriving on Sunday "With arms wide open," ready to seize their chance and reach the World Series.
3. Lexi Thompson: Breaking Barriers in Golf
Lexi Thompson is about to make history on the greens at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas. At just 28 years old, this LPGA star is set to become one of only seven females to ever compete on the PGA Tour. Her determination to be the first female player in almost 80 years to make the cut at a PGA Tour tournament is genuinely awe-inspiring. We'll be cheering her on all weekend!
4. The Pacific-12 Rivals: Oregon vs. Washington
The weekend isn't just about basketball and baseball. College football is heating up as well. Oregon and Washington, both contenders for the College Football Playoff, are set to face off in Seattle on Saturday. With College GameDay in town, you can bet the sailgating scene will be top-notch.
5. NFL in London: Ravens vs. Titans
It's a special weekend for NFL fans, especially those across the pond in London. The Ravens and Titans are set to play the final London game of the season. The transformation of Hotspur's field to an NFL field is mesmerizing. Did you know the field is retractable, taking just 25 minutes to convert from a soccer pitch to an American football field? Ninety-nine steel trays come together to make this magic happen.
What We're Watching: David Beckham Documentary
It feels like everyone we know is raving about the David Beckham documentary. His journey from a young football sensation to an international superstar is a story that transcends sports. Whether you're a die-hard sports fan or not, this documentary is a must-see for everyone.
Whether you're a sports fanatic or a casual observer, there's something for everyone to savor this weekend.
