Something To Talk About

Put your sports savviness to use and spark a conversation this holiday week.

It’s magical,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NBA (National Basketball Association)

Never stand in the way of free food. Just ask Isaiah Thomas of the Washington Wizards. He went up into the stands to confront a Philadelphia 76ers fan who was flipping him off and yelling obscenities at him toward the end of the game. Why the outlash? The fan justified their actions by saying all he wanted was a free Frosty (from Wendy’s), which fans receive if an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws during the second half of a game. Because of the incident, Thomas has been suspended for two games, the fan has been banned for a year and the season ticket holder who gave the fan their tickets had their tickets revoked. HOPE IT WAS WORTH IT

Overtime

Former NBA player Dwyane Wade opened up about his family life and, for the first time publicly, about supporting his LGBTQ child Zion. Using both male and female pronouns, he said that he wants his children to be “whoever they feel they can be in this world.” Wade is the father of four children and is married to actress Gabrielle Union. PROUD PAPA

Sideline stat

It happened again. Another No. 1 ranked college basketball team bites the dust. This time it was Kansas. It’s definitely a curse this season to be ranked at the top. For the first time in college basketball history, five different No. 1 teams have lost before January 1. UNCHARTED TERRITORY

Coaches’ corner

The Dallas Cowboys (NFL - National Football League) lost a key game in their road to the playoffs yesterday to their rivals the Philadelphia Eagles. To add insult to injury after the crappy day, the team plane was deemed not viable to fly home so the team sat on buses while they were stranded in Philly for hours. It was eventually repaired and they made their way home to Dallas. FLYING THE FRIENDLY SKIES
