Happy To See You

Making poolside chatter easier than a pitcher of margaritas,

Cheers,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NBA (National Basketball Association)

The Los Angeles Lakers are headed to the NBA Finals – the first time since Kobe Bryant led them there a decade ago. Their star player LeBron James is headed to his 10th NBA Finals appearance. The Lakers will play the Miami Heat for the championship starting on Wednesday. James has a history with the Heat. You might remember the outrage when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers to play in Miami where he won back-to-back championships. (And then he returned to the Cavs after that). BIG SHOES TO FILL

Overtime

NFL (National Football League) Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, 64, has spent a career fighting off opponents but never in a setting like this. In a scary situation, a woman broke into Montana’s Malibu home and was found holding his nine-month-old grandchild. Montana and his wife fought her off. The baby is okay and the intruder has been arrested for burglary and kidnapping. SCARY STUFF

Sideline stat

We witnessed history yesterday during the Cleveland Browns - Washington Football Team game. For the first time in NFL history, there were three women on the sidelines in an official capacity - one as a coach for each team and an official. Callie Brownson is the Browns' chief of staff, Sarah Thomas is an NFL official and Jennifer King is Washington's full-year coaching intern. HOPE TO SEE YOU MORE OFTEN

Coaches’ corner

The MLB (Major League Baseball) playoffs start tomorrow and the best is yet to come. In a new move this season, every playoff team will play in the wild card series, regardless of regular season record. (It used to be reserved for the two teams from each division that were on the verge of not making the playoffs). The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays are the favorites but if we’ve learned anything from the NBA playoffs or simply 2020 in general it’s that anything can happen. TUNE IN

What to watch

There has been a bit of a chilly reception for one of tennis’ Grand Slam tournaments, the French Open. It has nothing to do with the well renowned French hospitality, but the weather. The tournament is usually in May but has been moved to September because of COVID. Now the cold weather - like 46 degrees - is starting to play a factor. The cold temp impacts the players of course but also how the ball performs on the court. SHRINKAGE FACTOR
