We’re a little more than one week away from the biggest day in sports – the Super Bowl. The NFL announced that youth poet laureate, Amanda Gorman, will recite a poem before the Super Bowl. The 22-year-old’s original poem will honor three pandemic heroes that the NFL named honorary captains. It will be the first time a poet participates in the Super Bowl pregame festivities. A RISING STAR

Another big name has joined the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League). Last year a whole host of celebrities and athletes, including Natalie Portman, Billie Jean King, Mia Hamm, Jennifer Garner and Eva Longoria, to name a few, joined the ownership team for Angel City FC. Now tennis’ three-time Grand Slam champion and social justice advocate Naomi Osaka has purchased an ownership stake in the NWSL’s North Carolina Courage. The Courage is one of the 10 teams in the league. SHARE THE LOVE

Players will compete by playing a Madden video matchup on Sunday instead of playing in a live game. Unlike the traditional game, players like Snoop Dogg and NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) driver Bubba Wallace will join the NFL All-Stars team. FINALLY, NO WORRYING ABOUT CONCUSSIONS
