After another horse was scratched from the race, Rich Strike secured a spot in the Derby 30 seconds before the Friday deadline at 80-1 odds. It turns out missing all the pomp and circumstance was an advantage because Rich Strike came from behind to be one of the longest-odds horses ever to win the race. MAKING MONEY

However, the match made headlines for other reasons. The officiating in the game was questionable after some potentially dangerous situations.
