Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest
An American tradition unlike any other- the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is today. Be prepared to spice up any conversation with useless hot dog knowledge like vomiting. In the hot dog eating contest, an eater who has "a Roman incident" or “reversal of fortune,” as it is so delightfully called, will be disqualified if the result of that incident touches the plate or table. After the contest, eaters can dispose of the food however they’d like, although some contests have a post-binge wait period.
The 14-time men’s champ, Joey Chestnut, will be defending his title today on crutches and in a cast as he recovers from a ruptured tendon.
