At It Was

Post-COVID (if we're calling it that) conversation looks different from before. Remember that you don't have to be a sports expert, but sports are one more tool in your tool belt for success.

Blow them away,
The Last Night's Game Team

NFL (National Football League)

Another year of the NFL Draft has come and gone with a lot of happy hearts and heartbreak. Here are a few stories to share:

  • The Pittsburgh Steelers theme heading into the season should be the band of brothers. By picking Connor Heyward, the team now has four sets of brothers on their roster.

  • When he was selected in the second round by Arizona Cardinals, Trey McBride made history, becoming the first player with same-sex parents.

  • The Georgia Bulldogs won the College Football National Championship, and guess we know why since a record 15 players from that team were drafted.

Short and Sweet

  • Athletes and celebs will rub elbows at tonight's Met Gala. Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda serve as event co-chairs where the theme is gilded glamour.

  • The Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano fight lived up to the hype. Taylor earned a split decision over Serrano, and the whole world reacted with excitement around their historic fight.

  • Danica Patrick chooses her health over looks.

  • Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer's 324-game unpaid suspension, the equivalent of two full seasons, is the most severe punishment under MLB's (Major League Baseball) domestic violence policy. He intends to appeal.

  • Looking ahead, the Kentucky Derby is Saturday.

Before We Go

The regular season of the NHL (National Hockey League) went out on a high note this weekend with a rendition of the national anthem from Buffalo Sabres' goalie Malcolm Subban. In the Anaheim Ducks game, the team had to use an EBUG (emergency backup goalie) who is just a regular person. Cue Tom Hodges, a life insurance salesman who lost sight in his left eye as a child. He put down the hot dog he was enjoying in the stands and suited up for his team. NHL playoffs start this week. HERE HE COMES TO SAVE THE DAY
