Today's fitness routine might involve lacing up those running shoes and walking to the mailbox, but today's the big day for 30,000 runners in Boston. Event organizers have banned runners from Belarus and Russia. This morning, celebrities who are lacing up their shoes include NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) driver Matt Kenseth, the "Bachelor" franchise's Matt James and Zac Clark and “Survivor” champion Ethan Zohn. Zohn last ran the Marathon in 2013 and was at mile 23 when the bombs went off at the finish lines.
The Boston Marathon is one of the sporting events today on Patriots Day. Bostonians can also enjoy an afternoon Red Sox (MLB - Major League Baseball) game. WICKED AWESOME
Short and Sweet
Oscar-winning actor (and former ballpark hot dog vendor) Tom Hanks threw out the first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians (MLB - Major League Baseball) game, where he reunited with an old friend.
Golfer Jordan Spieth missed the cut at The Masters last week, but he won his first tournament as a father and his second straight Easter Sunday victory this weekend.
The ball from Tom Brady's final touchdown sold for $518,000 days before he came out of retirement. Since he's no longer retired, the sale was voided.
Before We Go
The NBA (National Basketball Association) Playoffs are underway and the teams expected to dominate (Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat) did just that. Still, owner Alex Rodriguez's underdog Minnesota Timberwolves upset the Memphis Grizzlies in game one.
The trash-talking Grizzlies fans may be partly to blame. Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards said, “The kids was (sic) the worst ones. Even eight years old, ten years old, ‘Anthony go sit down! You suck!’ It’s just fun. Basketball is fun to me. I love it.”
The first round of the playoffs is the best of seven games. NO MERCY
