Texas-sized battle. The World Series between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers resumes tonight in Houston and is tied 1-1. Athletes and celebrities packed the stands in Dodger Stadium during the first two games, who will show up in Houston? Hometown girl Beyonce? One can hope.
College Football
Rolling in the dough. Alabama is the number one football team in the country, so it’s only fitting that they have the highest paid coach in college football. Head coach Nick Saban cashes in with a salary of $11 million, topping the USA Today list of highest paid college coaches. See who else laughs all the way to the bank. LIST
Overtime
J.J. Watt and Haley Dawson are throwing out the first pitch before one of the next two World Series games. Watt is the Houston Texans (NFL) player who started a hurricane relief fund that raised over $37 million. Dawson is a 7-year-old girl who dreams of throwing out the first pitch at all 30 stadiums. What makes it even more special is that she was born without a hand and will use her robotic one to help her throw a strike.
Sideline stat
Two teams in the NFL remain winless after seven games into the season. Misery loves company and the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns still have yet to celebrate. The teams do not play each other in the regular season so the future could be grim.
Coaches’ corner
No one is more excited for this weekend’s NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) playoff race than wife of soon-to-be retired driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. A pregnant Amy Earnhardt will drive the pace car for the race. The real-life Baby Driver will be responsible for slowing down the field of cars when there’s an accident on the track until it’s cleaned up and safe to resume racing.

#HoustonStrong. Finally, some great news for Houston. For the first time in 16 years, the Houston Astros have won their division. The team will take the top spot for their division (American League West) in the playoffs, which starts in October.
NFL (National Football League)
This town ain’t big enough. It’s been a rough start for Los Angeles and their two new NFL teams – the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers. Lackluster game attendance has been the butt of many jokes and this weekend's games didn't help. The combined attendance for both the Rams and Chargers games was less than the total attendance for the USC (University of Southern California) game.
Overtime
Supporting the “Drive for Teal & Gold” campaign, 29 NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) drivers will utilize teal and gold steering wheels during the month of September. Drivers will raise awareness and funds for ovarian and childhood cancers. The effort is spearheaded by driver Martin Truex Jr. (who won yesterday's race) and his partner Sherry, an ovarian cancer survivor.
Sideline stat
For the third time ever, four quarterbacks from the same college started in the NFL on Sunday and they’re not from the big powerhouse school you might think. They all bleed red and blue as former players from North Carolina State.
Coaches’ corner
The much-anticipated boxing match between Gennady Gennadyevich Glolovkin (aka GGG) and Canelo Alvarez lived up the hype with nonstop action for 12 rounds. It all came down to the judges to declare the winner. They took the easy way out and declared it a draw (i.e. a tie). The sports world lost its mind calling the fight fixed. Only time will tell.

5 things to know about this College Football season
A little background - there are multiple divisions in college football. Today we’re going to talk about the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) teams, formerly known as Division IA. This division includes the majority of college football programs, including all of the massive ones you tend to hear about in the news.
It’s a 12-game season. For many teams the season ends with a bowl game (think Fiesta Bowl or Sugar Bowl). For the top two teams, the season culminates with the National Championship on Jan. 8th.
The Clemson Tigers are the defending National Champions. Their coach Dabo (pronounced da-beau) Swinney has been in the news lately for his massive contract extension.
Waking up to watch ESPN’s College GameDay is football's equivalent to Saturday morning cartoons. The crew, including 82-year-old Lee Corso, travels to different campuses for the big game of the week. In addition to talking football, they have other shenanigans during the show that make it fun for even the non-football fan to watch. More on College GameDay.
