The schedule isn’t just thrown together, it’s a carefully thought out process that involves mapping out holidays, Beyoncé concerts and shared parking facilities. When there's never enough time in the day. The NFL is giving its fans the gift of time. Fans can rejoice because the start time for primetime games (i.e. night games) have been moved up this season. Okay, so it’s not a lot of time saved but Sunday night games will start 10 minutes earlier than last season and Monday night football, 15 minutes earlier. MORE

Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived last month in Los Angeles to play for the L.A. Galaxy (MLS - Major League Soccer) with his giant ego in tow. Ibrahimovic was a star player for Manchester United and greeted L.A. with a newspaper ad saying "Los Angeles, You're welcome." The annual Time's 100 Most Influential list is out and while it’s full of big names, there are quite a few athletes that have landed on this list. Yesterday, the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars (both NFL teams) released their new uniforms for the upcoming season. The Jaguars took their big announcement a step further and revealed they're also opening the first dog park in an NFL stadium this season. Who says cats and dogs can't get along?

Winter Olympics
If you’ve been staying up too late to watch sports you didn’t even know you cared about. The Winter Olympics are coming to an end with the closing ceremony on Sunday. In the ceremony, a united Korea will hand the Olympic torch off to the site of the 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo. Also, keep an eye out for Ivanka Trump in attendance and the dynamic duo of former Olympic figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir in the broadcast booth.

It’s been a great week for American gold medal snowboarder Chloe Kim. She’s on the cover of Sports Illustrated alongside her dog and she photobombed tourists with Jimmy Fallon. Then she learned that her real dream had come true. Kim will be featured on the front of Kellogg's Corn Flakes boxes.
Sideline stat
Normally when a player’s jersey number is retired, it’s never to be worn again by anyone else on the team. That is until your kin comes along. Larry Nance Jr. was recently traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA – National Basketball Association) where his father’s #22 jersey is retired. After initially declining to wear the same number as his dad, he has decided that he will in fact wear the family jewel - the #22 jersey.

In the “yes this really happened file,” we bring you American skier representing Hungary, Elizabeth Swaney. She attempted exactly zero tricks on her halfpipe run - a run that many are calling a mockery of the sport. She made the Hungary Olympic team simply because she didn't fall during her qualifier. She's known for seeking the spotlight, having run against Arnold Schwarzenegger for governor as a college student. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this video will leave you speechless.
What to watch
The men’s curling gold medal match between USA and Sweden begins at 3am Saturday morning EST and there’s still plenty of speed skating left to watch. Also, MLB (Major League Baseball) spring training games start tomorrow. Batter up!

If you’re ready to dominate your Monday. The U.S. Figure Skating Team picked up a bronze medal in the team skate event. Their score was boosted by Mirai Nagasu’s free skate in which she did something no American has ever done. She successfully landed a triple axel in the Olympics. What is a triple axel? 3.5 rotations in the air. No big deal.
Because breakfast beers are perfectly acceptable at the Olympics. Red Gerard, 17, became the first American to win a gold medal in the Winter Olympics. Before the competition, he received early morning Snapchat videos from his family shotgunning beers on the way to watch him compete for gold. Too bad he’s not old enough to join them.
When there are never enough spirit fingers in your day. Overshadowing the athletes themselves are the North Korean cheerleaders. This handpicked crew of young women has more spirit than a remake of “Bring It On.” Their dances and cheers were on display at the Korea - Switzerland hockey game, where the joint Korean team was handily beaten by the Swiss team.

The Westminster Dog Show begins today and so many people in the competition will be living out their doggie dreams including Hall of Fame NFL (National Football League) player Shannon Sharpe. He’ll be joining the long line of fantastic correspondents covering canines with names like Tickle Em Jock and Starfire’s Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy. (Those are not names used to describe your former boyfriends, but in fact names of real dogs that have competed in the show).
Keep an eye on Sonnito, a Chihuahua that could be the first of its breed to claim the title of “best in show.”

This weekend, a very emotional Paul Pierce became the 22nd player in Boston Celtics (NBA - National Basketball Association) history to have his jersey retired. Pierce wore #34 and was part of the team that brought the city of Boston a championship. (Unsure what it means to retire a jersey number? Here’s your answer).

If you’re looking for a way to stay calm this Monday, look no further than Finnish snowboarding coach Antti Koskinen. You can find him in zen mode, knitting away while standing next to his athletes who are getting ready to take on the mountain. Who knew Grandma was a trendsetter?
