It was an exciting weekend in college football with a huge upset of another top 10 ranked team. Wisconsin (#6) was handed a loss by an unranked Illinois team. Another moment worth noting is the loss of Alabama’s (#1) starting quarterback. The team lost Tua Tagovailoa with an ankle injury. Normally the team would be okay but his talented backup, Jalen Hurts, transferred to Oklahoma this season and is dominating there, so we’ll see if Alabama can pick up the pieces and stay at the front of the pack. The road to starting a family for female athletes is a tough one. You may recall the criticism Nike faced from their sponsored female athletes that caused them to adopt a progressive maternity policy. Now WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) star Skylar Diggins is shedding some light on her story. She revealed that she played the entire 2018 season while she was pregnant. (She had an amazing season BTW). She spoke out about her critics, the lack of support and the fact that she took only two months off and that was to deal with postpartum depression. RAISE ‘EM UP

Former University of Texas running back Ricky Williams was the last Heisman Trophy winner to be able to profit from the sale of his famed trophy. On Saturday, his Heisman Trophy sold for a record $504,000 to a Florida sports memorabilia collector. After 1998, any player who wins the Heisman is required to sign an agreement stating they cannot sell the iconic trophy that recognizes the best in college football. CASHING IN
Coaches’ corner
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had a creative way of laying down the law with one of his players. Freshman player Andrew Booth was ejected from this weekend’s game for punching an opposing player. The defending national championship coach made Booth ride home on the bus with the team managers instead of flying home with the team. Swinney said the almost seven hour drive home gave Booth “plenty of time to think about it.” LONGEST TIME-OUT EVER?
What to watch
Game one of the World Series is tomorrow night. The Houston Astros won their first World Series in 2017 and they’re back to try for one more. When making snow angels sounds more fun than working. The Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills played in white out conditions yesterday. In the snowiest game in recent history, the Buffalo fans stuck it out to watch their team take home an overtime win. Now that’s commitment and maybe a slight bit of insanity considering it was snowing so hard you could barely see the field.
Tennis
To your friend who’s back to work after maternity leave, Serena Williams understands. She announced that she will play in the Australian Open next month, the same tournament she won last year while pregnant. She took off most of last season from competing and daughter Alexa was born in September to Williams and her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
Overtime
A heartbreaking video of a student, Keaton Jones, talking about being bullied has struck a nerve with so many. Celebs and athletes alike are using social media for good by bringing the issue of bullying to light and offering their support to Keaton. Tennessee Titans’ (NFL) Delanie Walker offered to fly Keaton to a game and UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) President Dana White invited him to their Las Vegas headquarters so they can hang out.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was named the top college football player this season, winning the Heisman Trophy. He is the first walk-on player to ever win the coveted award. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The St. Louis Blues (NHL - National Hockey League) called on a vending machine worker who is also a season ticket holder to play as their emergency goalie in a game. The elated fan played until the replacement player brought up from the minor leagues could make it to the game.
The NHL has a rule that requires each team to have a list of emergency goalies for themselves and for visiting teams. If only that rule was around for Happy Gilmore.

The Seattle Sounders are playing the Toronto FC (Football Club) in Toronto where it’s going to be a balmy 34 degrees at kickoff with a 70% chance of snow.

Olympic gold medal gymnast Simone Biles will be the first honorary cheerleader for her hometown Houston Texans (NFL – National Football League) this weekend. She’ll even get to wear the legendary red boots. The boots dreams are made of.

The Cleveland Browns (NFL) are on their way to a winless football season. One of their fans has raised the required $10,000 to throw them a victory-less parade should they finish without a win. His fundraising efforts were completed by a $7,683 donation from Excedrin, the headache medication. Apparently the Browns give them a headache too.
