Aloha champions. Providing their state with a much needed pick me up after Hurricane Lane, the team from Hawaii beat the South Korean team to claim the title of Little League Baseball World Series Champions. The Hawaiians and their opponents then engaged in an unusual series tradition, collecting a handful of infield dirt in baggies to commemorate their playing time. BRINGING SAND TO THE BEACH

Week one of college football starts this Thursday but the University of South Carolina Gamecocks are having to do a little extra cosmetic work before their season opener. Last season, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton led his team to a big victory over the Baltimore Ravens (NFL – National Football League). That win couldn’t save his Bengals postseason dreams but it allowed the Buffalo Bills to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. In gratitude, Bills fans donated $450,000 to Dalton’s charity. This weekend during his first game back in Buffalo, Dalton turned the tables and made a $450,000 donation to the Roswell Park Cancer Center in downtown Buffalo, earning him a standing ovation from the Bills' fans. Yesterday, The Players’ Tribune published an essay by Golden State Warriors’ (NBA – National Basketball Association) Steph Curry entitled “It’s Personal,” highlighting the need for gender equality. The NBA MVP is surrounded by women including his wife, Ayesha - a successful chef and restaurateur and two young daughters. When the unthinkable happens. The Washington Capitals are NHL Champions. The team, which capitalized on a 3-1 lead in the series against the Vegas Golden Knights, hoisted the Stanley Cup last night for the first time in franchise history. The playoff MVP and one of hockey’s best Alex Ovechkin, helped break the 44-year curse for the Washington, D.C. franchise. MAKING HISTORY

Things are looking rosy for the nation’s capital. Not only did the city win its first Stanley Cup but now the Washington Nationals (MLB – Major League Baseball) are celebrating tomorrow’s National Rosé Day in a big way. They’ll be serving frosé (of course) at a pop-up rosé garden. Fans can also buy tickets in the special “Rosé All Gameday” section and receive a can of rosé with their ticket purchase. CHEERS TO THAT

In case you needed another reason to don a big hat and drink rosé tomorrow, Justify will take the track at the Belmont Stakes hoping to become the lucky 13th winner of the rarest feat in sports, the Triple Crown. He would be only the second horse to win the Triple Crown in 40 years. (American Pharaoh won in 2015). GO PONIES GO!

Golden State Warriors fans are about to go loco and it’s not only because their team is one win away from winning another NBA (National Basketball Association) championship. Thanks to the Warriors win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road earlier this week, everyone in America will get free Doritos Locos Tacos from Taco Bell on June 13th. Five Things You Didn’t Know About The Olympics
1. Ever wonder how skaters come off the ice without enormous wedgies? (You know you did). Some have been known to sew the bottom of their costume to their tights to keep everything in place. Gymnasts do something similar by using spray adhesive to keep their back tuck from becoming a full moon.
2. Real men wear pink and speedskaters wear blue. Why? Well no one really knows but there seems to be a consensus amongst the athletes that blue skates faster. That’s why you’ll even see teams that notoriously wear red, like Norway, wearing blue on the ice.
3. Have you watched the Olympians hurl down the tunnel of ice in the luge? You didn’t think there was room to hide anything in those skintight uniforms, but what you don’t really see is a vital neck strap. This strap helps the athlete hold their head up when they reach high g-forces. Do not try this one at home.
4. How do athletes in sports like skiing stay warm when they can’t wear a scarf? Athletic tape. They use athletic tape that resembles a giant Band-Aid to keep their nose and cheeks warm. It’s like a pore strip, only more patriotic. PICS
5. Coaches are an integral part of gold medal success but who pays for them? Athletes (or their families) typically pay for their coaches, putting them in a precarious financial situation. Different governing bodies (i.e. U.S. Figure Skating) have been known to also offer coaches medal incentives, similar to the athletes.
