Wild card weekend lived up to its hype, with two overtime games. The biggest news of the weekend is that the New England Patriots lost to the Tennessee Titans, missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Speculation is swirling around Tom Brady’s next move, but nothing has been announced. The Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks also won and will be moving onto the next round this weekend. SAYONARA DYNASTY
Overtime
New York Mets (MLB – Major League Baseball) often injured star player Yoenis Cespedes missed last season with an ankle injury sustained from a fall on his ranch. This weekend it was reported that the ankle injury was due to a wild boar incident at his ranch. The boar either startled him or charged him, causing him to step into a hole and hurt his ankle. The tennis season kicks off in Melbourne on January 19 at the Australian Open but the start of the season could be impacted by the wildfires. Organizers are considering delaying the tournament if the conditions continue to deteriorate around Melbourne. Big name tennis players, athletes and celebrities of all nationalities have stepped up to donate to help the victims of the devastating Australia wildfires. RALLY FOR RELIEF

Super Bowl Sunday is just around the corner and that means it’s also time for the Puppy Bowl. The cutest lineup of adoptable shelter pups has been released. Team Ruff and Team Fluff will battle it out with the goal of getting every dog on the field adopted. Not into dogs? Don’t worry, the two teams will be cheered on by hamsters, pygmy goats, armadillos and kittens. ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Karma. Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson gave his first NFL paycheck to three stadium employees who lost everything in Hurricane Harvey. On Sunday, he went out and led his team to a massive victory, breaking a franchise scoring record in the process. See nice guys do finish first.
Golf
Hail to the Chief. The Presidents Cup lived up to its name with visits from former presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama. President Trump was there to present the trophy to Team U.S.A. who took home their seventh tournament win in a row.
You want fries with that shake? The crowds at the Presidents Cup were in a festive mood and they came up with songs to taunt with the opposing players. There was one song about Si Woo Kim, that no golfer is soon to forget. Listen here.
Overtime
Under the cloak of darkness, former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL player O.J. Simpson, was released from jail early Sunday morning. Simpson, who enjoyed McDonald’s as his first meal as a free man, will ride out his parole living in Las Vegas.

In college football, big schools (ex. LSU – Louisiana State University) pay small schools (ex. Troy University) to play them so they can get an easy win. In this case Troy didn’t get the memo. They went into LSU, beat them on homecoming and boasted about their win and their payday ($985,000) on Twitter.

It’s time for the MLB (Major League Baseball) playoffs. The wild card games start tomorrow. If you want exciting baseball, these are the games to watch. The teams play one game to see who advances to the post season. There are two wild card teams that advance to the playoffs per league (American and National League). They will join the four division winners from each league on the road to the World Series. Here's the schedule.

PS - Since the majority of the country is being hit with some sort of precipitation this weekend, here are a few tailgate treats that’ll give you an excuse to stay inside.
NFL (National Football League)
- This weekend is filled with wild card playoff games. Who qualifies to be a wild card team? They are the top four teams in each league that did not win their division but were still really good.
Saturday games
- Oakland Raiders vs Houston Texans - Raiders rookie starting quarterback Connor Cook has never started a game before and Texans starting quarterback Brock Osweiler was benched this year for bad performance. This ought to be a doozy.
- Detroit Lions vs Seattle Seahawks- The Seahawks have never lost a playoff game on their home turf at CenturyLink Field and the Lions have never won a game there. Talk about home field advantage.
Sunday games
- Miami Dolphins vs Pittsburgh Steelers - For the first time the “Big Three” of Pittsburgh - quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, wide receiver Antonio Brown and running back Le’Veon Bell - will play in a playoff game together. A dangerously good combination to play against the Dolphins and their backup starting quarterback.
- New York Giants vs Green Bay Packers - The Giants beat the Packers in the playoffs the two times the Giants won Super Bowl (2008 and 2012) although the Packers finished this season on a six game winning streak. We’ll find out if the Giants partying with the Biebs this week was good luck or if Olivia Munn’s boyfriend Aaron Rodgers can pull off a win for his Packers.
- Going back back back. After 31 years of hosting ESPN’s NFL studio programming, the iconic Chris Berman will be stepping down after this season. Berman is staying with ESPN, but in a different role. No replacement has been named but we guarantee his job is the hottest ticket in town since Billy Joel played in baseball stadiums.

- The piano man himself, Billy Joel, is determined to make baseball exciting. He announced that he’ll be playing in Major League Baseball stadiums on his upcoming tour. During his six stadium tour he’ll play where his career started, in Los Angeles. He’ll play at Dodgers Stadium on May 13th. Will he be rocking out in your city? Find out here.

- The Las Vegas SuperContest is one of the most prestigious competitions for NFL bettors. It puts your $1,500 entry fee up against 1,854 entries for a prize of more than $900,000. This year’s contest was won by a Starbucks barista. No word if he showed up to make Frappuccinos for demanding teenagers the next day.

- NBA (National Basketball Association) all-star voting is open to the fans and they are showing why the fan vote only counts for 50% of the game’s starting line-up. You’ve probably never heard of Golden State Warriors’ Zaza Pachulia, who is an average NBA player. Well he’s in second place in all-star voting behind his powerhouse teammate Kevin Durant. He may be a fan favorite but he’s not at the all-star level quite yet. This is why the fans can’t have nice things.
