Full Speed Ahead

All the celebs running Sunday's NYC Marathon, this week's Tailgate Treat and the sports dad who may have cost his son his NFL career.

Judging by the endless Hallmark holiday movies available (40 new ones, in case you're counting), the holiday season is upon us. Instead of small talk about politics or the weather, share your newfound sports knowledge to get the party started.

Cue the snow,

The Last Night's Game Team

New York City Marathon

Forget a trip to Los Angeles for a celebrity sighting this Sunday; the NYC Marathon is the place to be. Former U.S. Women's National Soccer Team teammates and Olympic gold medalists Abby Wambach and Lauren Holiday will be joined by Bachelor nation's Matt James, Tyler Cameron, Tayshia Adams and her fiancé, Zac Clark. TODAY's Willie Geist and legendary supermodel Christy Turlington Burns will be lacing their shoes up too. Everyone mentioned above will be running for a charity of their choice. No Tricks, All Treats

PETA proposes a marketing change to MLB, NFL-level Halloween decorations and Ronaldo news.

This weekend, up your game with a little sports conversation with a side of candy chatter.

Sweet,

The Last Night’s Game Team

MLB (Major League Baseball)

Everyone wants a piece of the World Series as the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves head into Game Three in Atlanta tonight. Since this is the first time the Braves have been to the Fall Classic since 1999, ticket prices are through the roof. Even PETA wants in on the action, campaigning for baseball to change the name from the “bullpen” to the “arm farm.”

If you’re wondering, the series is tied 1-1, and the Braves are 5-0 at home in the playoffs this season.

Before We Go

The resignations continue in the wake of the sexual assault of a Chicago Blackhawks (NHL - National Hockey League) player by a team video coach. The case is finally coming to light this week even though it happened in 2010.

Happy Together

Real men wear puppy t-shirts to work, F1 + NBA = love affair and a Packers player pays it forward.

Sports and great conversation go together like peanut butter and jelly or wine and popcorn.

So satisfying,
The Last Night’s Game Team

F1 (Formula One)

It's a big weekend in Austin, and no, we're not talking about University of Texas football. The global phenomenon of F1 will run its only race in the US on Sunday. The weekend-long festivities are a little rock and roll – with multiple concerts (21 Pilots and Billy Joel) spliced in between racing. Ramping up to the US race, F1 announced a partnership with the NBA (National Basketball Association) to start the basketball league's 75th Anniversary season. F1 released images of the first ten cars in a series that will feature custom car liveries of all 30 NBA teams. SLAM DUNK

Overtime

The Tennessee Titans (NFL - National Football League) are tackling pet homelessness this weekend. Star players Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill dressed for the occasion wearing t-shirts featuring a giant face of a pet that is available for adoption to a post-practice press conference. The BETTER CITIES FOR BETTER PETS campaign will help find homes for Nashville and Kansas City area pets. The Kansas City Chiefs are the Titans' opponent this weekend. PICK ME

Sideline stat

You might remember when Green Bay Packers (NFL) Aaron Jones lost his pendant containing his father's ashes during an epic four-touchdown game earlier this season. Jones thought his pendant was lost for good, but Packers head athletic trainer Bryan Engel found it on the field after the game around 1:45 am. This week, Jones gifted Engel five "Bird" scooters for his family as a token of appreciation. Since the incident, the Packers have sewn a special pocket for the pendant in Jones' jersey to ensure it stays safe on game day. KEEP IT CLOSE TO THE CHEST

Coaches’ corner

The Chinese tech giant, Tencent, pulled Boston Celtics (NBA) content after Celtics center Enes Kanter tweeted a video expressing support for Tibet. This isn't the first time Kanter has stirred up controversy around his political beliefs. FREEDOM TO TWEET

What to watch

The World Series (MLB - Major League Baseball) matchup will likely be determined this weekend, with the Houston Astros on the verge of knocking out the Boston Red Sox. (Astros lead 3-2).
