Brain Food

An Opening Ceremony surprise, why they're playing hockey on the Bellagio fountains, celebs hit the links and this week's Tailgate Treat.

Here's to you recognizing your full potential this weekend.

Loving that big, beautiful brain of yours,
The Last Night's Game Team

NFL (National Football League)

This weekend, the Pro Bowl, the NFL's All-Star Game, finds a new home in Las Vegas. Players who show up get paid. The game-winners receive $80,000 each (that's more than the losing team in the Super Bowl gets), and the losers go home with $40,000 each. The NFL has sweetened the pot for players to attend as it's risky to play one more game and tempt fate with a possible career-ending injury. You won't see any players from the Rams or Bengals in the game as they are not eligible ahead of next weekend's Super Bowl. TOUCHDOWN DANCE

Short and Sweet

  • China topped off an Opening Ceremonies with a surprise. One of the Chinese athletes to light the torch was Dinigeer Yilamujiang, a Chinese cross country skier. Yilamujiang is from Xinjiang and is an ethnic Uyghur. Alleged crimes against humanity against the Uyghur and other mostly-Muslim ethnic groups caused countries worldwide to impose a diplomatic boycott of the Winter Games.

  • NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) kicks off its season by taking over the Coliseum in Los Angeles. NASCAR team owner Pitbull will perform before the race, and Ice Cube will provide a musical interlude mid-race.

  • Bill Murray, Josh Duhamel, and Mia Hamm are a few celebrities hitting the links this weekend as part of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Before We Go

The NHL (National Hockey League) All-Star Game takes over Las Vegas this weekend. From an oversized card game that will shut down part of the strip to an all-star game featuring a performance from Machine Gun Kelly and four teams with a chance at $1 million. The skills competition will occur on a "rink" in the Bellagio Fountain, as only Vegas can do. Participants in the skills competition will be boated out onto the "rink," The added elements of fountain spray and breeze will all be a part of the experience. HERE FOR THE PARTY

I Like It, I Love It

The fine line between a great celebration or sore losers, the American underdog down under and this week's Tailgate Treat.

Is there a better feeling than being able to carry on a meaningful conversation with someone new?

Pure bliss,
The Last Night's Game Team

NFL (National Football League)

We are one round of playoff games away from the Super Bowl, and that hasn't stopped fans from stirring up the controversy. It seems the internet has turned on the fiancée and brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for what some deem as tasteless TikTok videos and celebration antics. The Chiefs play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in their conference championship game. The winner goes to the Super Bowl. GAME ON

Before We Go

No. 1 ranked Ash Barty earns a spot in the Australian Open (tennis) women's finale, the first Australian singles player to make it since 1980. On Saturday (Australian Time), she will face underdog American Danielle Collins (No. 27), who is on a fairy tale run.

On Sunday, Rafael Nadal will attempt to go where no man has gone before. He's seeking his 21st Grand Slam title in his match against Daniil Medvedev, which would move him past Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic for the most among men all-time. The odds aren't in his favor, though. He's 1-4 in his career in the Australian Open Final and has lost four straight. NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT

Tailgate Treat

We're inching closer to the Super Bowl which means it's time to kick up our food game with some legit homemade mac and cheese, that's also quick and simple. ALL THE GOODNESS

What You Waiting For?

The Super Bowl Halftime trailer will have you dancing, proof that sports knowledge isn't required and this week's Tailgate Treat.

Life is short. Take a chance.

You're worth it,
The Last Night's Game Team

NFL (National Football League)

We're diving headfirst into the second week of the NFL playoffs, and the story everyone is talking about is Tom Brady. Why? Well, not necessarily for his on-the-field play, but at 44, he is older than the remaining NFC (National Football Conference - one of the two NFL conferences) coaches that he could face in the postseason.

There are two games on Saturday and two on Sunday, so there will be plenty of football for your weekend..

Short and Sweet

  • The NFL released the trailer of the Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, and millennials everywhere danced in their desk chairs.

  • The Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) head coach hopes that two kegs of beer will be enough to entice one of his star players back to the team.

  • NBC, home of the Winter Olympics, will not send broadcasters to Beijing due to COVID concerns.

Before We Go

In the world of golf, 19-year-old Akshay Bhatia claimed his first Korn Ferry title. While that's remarkable, he did it with a caddie who knows nothing about golf, his girlfriend. Presleigh Schultz, who met Bhatia on Instagram, admitted she knew nothing about golf. Typically a caddie helps the golfer navigate the course by providing tips and tricks.

PS - Korn Ferry is like the minor leagues to the PGA (Professional Golfers Association).

Tailgate Treat

This week's easy-to-make Tailgate Treat, French Onion Soup, will warm your soul. And it's easy to make. ALL THE GOODNESS
