More Than Words
Tom Hanks and Wilson return, who's missing at today's Boston Marathon and trash-talking kids stir up the NBA playoffs.
There's nothing like the feeling of starting a new week full of potential and opportunity.
Game face on,
The Last Night's Game Team
The Boston Marathon
Today's fitness routine might involve lacing up those running shoes and walking to the mailbox, but today's the big day for 30,000 runners in Boston. Event organizers have banned runners from Belarus and Russia. This morning, celebrities who are lacing up their shoes include NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) driver Matt Kenseth, the "Bachelor" franchise's Matt James and Zac Clark and “Survivor” champion Ethan Zohn. Zohn last ran the Marathon in 2013 and was at mile 23 when the bombs went off at the finish lines.
The Boston Marathon is one of the sporting events today on Patriots Day. Bostonians can also enjoy an afternoon Red Sox (MLB - Major League Baseball) game. WICKED AWESOME

Oscar-winning actor (and former ballpark hot dog vendor) Tom Hanks threw out the first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians (MLB - Major League Baseball) game, where he reunited with an old friend.
Golfer Jordan Spieth missed the cut at The Masters last week, but he won his first tournament as a father and his second straight Easter Sunday victory this weekend.
The ball from Tom Brady's final touchdown sold for $518,000 days before he came out of retirement. Since he's no longer retired, the sale was voided.
Before We Go
The NBA (National Basketball Association) Playoffs are underway and the teams expected to dominate (Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat) did just that. Still, owner Alex Rodriguez's underdog Minnesota Timberwolves upset the Memphis Grizzlies in game one.
The trash-talking Grizzlies fans may be partly to blame. Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards said, “The kids was (sic) the worst ones. Even eight years old, ten years old, ‘Anthony go sit down! You suck!’ It’s just fun. Basketball is fun to me. I love it.”
The first round of the playoffs is the best of seven games. NO MERCY

The Masters
In the shadow of the return of Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler took home his first major win yesterday. Scheffler entered The Masters ranked No. 1 in the world. He put on a dominant performance, beating veteran Rory McIlroy and taking home the largest purse ever from Augusta at $2.7 million.
Wincing with pain, Woods wrapped up the tournament on Sunday, 14 months after a near amputation of his leg from a tragic car accident. Woods, who finished 47th, walked all 72 holes over the four-day tournament. In the wake of Woods' return, ESPN saw their Thursday and Friday ratings jump compared to last year - up 1.2 million viewers. BACK AT IT

The sports world is still in shock over the death of Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL - National Football League) quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Haskins, who was in Florida for training, was struck by a dump truck around 6:30 am Saturday. Haskins, 24, was attempting to cross the interstate on foot. He played at Ohio State, where he was a Heisman Trophy finalist and was working toward his dream of being a starter in the NFL. GONE TOO SOON

This One's For The Champions
Gamecocks are champs, Ryan Reynolds' tears of joy and tonight's big game.
It's funny how small talk works. Last Monday, all everyone could talk about was the slap heard worldwide. Today, you'd rather poke your eyeballs out than talk about it. Luckily for you (and us), sports are always a relevant way to start a conversation.
Let's get this started,
The Last Night's Game Team
March Madness
The South Carolina Gamecocks are women's basketball national champions. Aliyah Boston and her pink and purple hair led her team as they ran away with the game last night over the UConn Huskies.
Tonight the men take the main stage as the Kansas Jayhawks take on the North Carolina Tarheels. The Tarheels spoiled Duke and Coach K's last chance at a national championship on Saturday. They're led by first-year coach and former player Hubert Davis. Old guys rule in Kansas, which has benefitted from players staying longer in college (vs. heading to the NBA) due to name, image, likeness opportunities. MONDAY NIGHT MADNESS

Longtime Gamecocks fan Darius Rucker teased a free concert on campus if his team won the women's national championship; now, will he follow through?
The MLB (Major League Baseball) regular-season starts this week, and it could be a rough year to be an Oakland A's fan as five players in baseball have higher salaries than the entire A's roster.
Owner Ryan Reynolds saw his first Wrexham FC (fifth tier, English soccer league) win in person, which brought him to tears. Then he rushed the field and was still home in NYC in time for a late dinner.
Before We Go
Ahead of the iconic Masters golf tournament this week, 16-year-old Anna Davis won the Augusta National Women's Amateur in her debut entry. It wasn't long ago that Augusta wouldn't even allow women to play or be members, and Davis channeled her nerves to take home the trophy.
The Masters with its azaleas and pimento cheese sandwiches starts on Thursday. Tiger Woods will make a game time decision on whether or not he'll play. It would be his first PGA (Professional Golfers Association) tournament since his tragic car accident last spring. TEE IT UP

You might care less about March Madness, but it's undoubtedly going to be the hot topic today. Here's how you can level the playing field and join the conversation. (Hint: you don't have to know anything about basketball). GAME ON
