All Rise

Ringworm and the Dairy Queen curse, the power of the internet and J.J. Watt loses his man card.

It's Monday. Another chance to rise to the occasion.

Positive outlook,
The Last Night's Game Team

PS: Sending love to the students (and their parents) returning to school this week.

MLB (Major League Baseball)

One of the league's young stars, San Diego Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr., tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PED). He claims the drug he tested positive for was used to treat ringworm. Regardless, he'll serve out his 80-game suspension.

Tatis is just the latest player to suffer from the Dairy Queen curse. He is the fourth spokesperson for Dairy Queen to have his season go sideways after participating in a campaign. (NOT SO) SWEET TREAT

Short and Sweet

  • A household visitor made J.J. Watt (NFL - National Football League) hand over his man card.

  • The schedulers of the USGA (U.S. Golf Association) Amateur Championship have a sense of humor with their "Seinfeld" pairing featuring Costanza, Kremer and Newman.

  • Will Zalatoris, who looks like "Happy Gilmore's" caddie, took home his first career win when it mattered during the PGA (Professional Golfers Association) FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Before We Go

The Las Vegas Aces secured the No. 1 spot in the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) Playoffs as the regular season wrapped yesterday. However, the big story was a viral photo of a fan in the stands at a past game holding a sign saying, "Living with stage 4 breast cancer. Meeting Plum #10 is on my bucket list." The Aces' Kelsey Plum and the team tracked down Ashleigh Ahrens, thanks to the internet, and made the meet and greet happen. The playoffs start on Wednesday. SPREAD THE LOVE

Late Night Talking

Our favorite furry addition to an MLB roster, LeBron supports NASCAR and Mike Tyson is so mad, someone might lose an ear.

No matter the time of day, we have you covered for all the small talk, no matter the situation.

Safer than talking politics for sure,
The Last Night's Game Team

WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association)

Arguably the biggest name in WNBA history, Sue Bird, wrapped up her regular-season career at home with the Seattle Storm yesterday in front of the largest crowd in Climate Pledge Arena history. The city of Seattle declared yesterday "Sue Bird Day." The ordinarily stoic Bird was moved to tears during an emotional tribute video featuring a litany of celebrities, including fiancée Megan Rapinoe, LeBron James, Chloe Kim and former athletes turned TV personalities Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan to name a few. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Before We Go

Former Boxer Mike Tyson is unhappy about the upcoming Hulu documentary about him, saying the streaming service "stole" his life story. In his rant, he took the time to thank UFC President Dana White for not taking money to participate in the documentary. IN THE AIR TONIGHT

Thank You For Being A Friend

England soccer fans are doing a happy dance, the QB who spent his off-season in a prison bus (by choice) and the passing of a legend.

While it's the start of the month, it's also National Girlfriends Day. It's a great excuse to check in with the women who enhance our lives. So to you, we say thank you.

Lost without you,
The Last Night's Game Team

Women’s Euro Cup

In front of a record crowd (and Prince William), England beat Germany in extra time in the Euro Cup Final. Team England brought home only the second major international tournament win besides the 1966 men's World Cup. On hand to see the historic victory in person were 87,192 fans, the largest crowd to watch a Euro Cup Finals, men's or women's. THE FUTURE IS YOURS

Short and Sweet

  • Rest in Peace, Bill Russell. The 11-time NBA (National Basketball Association) champion leaves a legacy of activism, including starting Mississippi's first integrated basketball camp that led him to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

  • Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten won the first-ever first-ever Tour de France Femmes.

  • NFL (National Football League) training camps are in full swing. Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Gardner Minshew revealed that he spent the offseason living in an old prison bus parked outside his gym.

  • The sweet gesture that Everton Football Club (soccer) made for a fan who has been delivering supplies by car to refugees from Ukraine.

Before We Go

A brutal bike crash at the Commonwealth Games took three athletes to the hospital. Cyclist Matt Walls hurtled over the barriers on his bike and landed on top of spectators in the stands. The Commonwealth Games invites athletes from the 72 member states, the vast majority of which are former territories of the British Empire, to compete in the multi-sport event. This year, 4,500 athletes from 72 territories are participating in the Games. OUCH
