The University of Miami Hurricanes unveiled a new version the most famous piece of jewelry in college football – the turnover chain. The chain underwent an overhaul in the offseason and the new chain features the state of Florida made of roughly 1,900 white sapphires. DeChambeau, who has become a bit of the villain on the Tour, showed up after the COVID break with a newly bulked up physique (we're talking 40 pounds heavier) that had everyone talking. But don’t let the tough guy exterior fool you, he burst into tears when he was surprised by a video call from his parents after his win yesterday. VICTORY IS SWEET

The first weekend of NFL football was a success. No games were cancelled nor did any player or personnel test positive for COVID. Tom Brady played in his first game as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. (They lost). And it was a fresh start with a new name and win for the Washington Football Team. Washington head coach Ron Rivera, who has cancer, received an IV at halftime while his second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins gave a rousing speech to rally his team from 17-point deficit to win. Overtime
While the Los Angeles Lakers advanced to their first conference finals since 2010, they also welcomed a new member to their family. Kobe Bryant’s former teammate and close friend, Pau Gasol welcomed a daughter and named her after Gianna Bryant. Gianna died in the helicopter crash alongside her father. Gasol and his wife were and are still very close with the Bryant family. In fact, Vanessa Bryant is the godmother to little Elisabet Gianna. Kobe and Gasol led the Lakers to their last conference finals appearance that eventually resulted in a championship. TOUCHING TRIBUTE

Naomi Osaka has accomplished so much in her 22 years. The saying is “you’re your own worst enemy” and that rang true to the world’s No. 1 tennis player, Novak Djokovic in the U.S. Open yesterday. Amidst his frustration during a match, he hit a line judge in a throat with a ball. While everyone agreed the move was unintentional, it still violated the rules and Djokovic was expelled from the tournament. It’s the first time in 16 years that none of the big three - Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer - have been in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament. (The U.S. Open is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in tennis). A NEW CHAMPION AWAITS

Spotted – Kendall Jenner and Phoenix Suns (NBA – National Basketball Association) star Devin Booker. The two have been spotted on vacation with Hailey and Justin Bieber and out and about since the Suns’ season came to an end in August. Booker is not only a great basketball player, but he has a big heart. He serves as a Special Olympics global ambassador. His sister was born with microdeletion syndrome, which causes mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, and has made it a goal to support her and Special Olympics athletes however he can.
