The Super Bowl may have been a snooze but there are more exciting things on the road ahead.
The bar is set pretty low,
The Last Night’s Game Team
1. On Saturday, February 9 a new football league is taking the field. The Alliance of American Football is not looking to rival the NFL (National Football League), hence starting after the Super Bowl, but to give people what they want…more football. The league was started by the son of TV executive Dick Ebersol. Yes, Charlie Ebersol who dated Britney Spears for a hot minute. TOUCHDOWN
2. Start your engines as the NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) kicks off the season with its most iconic race, the Daytona 500, on Sunday, February 17. This is the first season the racing league is without driver Danica Patrick. LIFE IN THE FAST LANE
3. The Westminster Dog Show (February 11 and 12) has taken a page from college basketball, developing a bracket challenge similar to March Madness. You can pick which breed will win it all for a chance at $1 million. If you don’t know that much about the breeds, you can copy the bracket from official “barketologist,” singer Nick Lachey. BEST IN SHOW
4. The boys of summer are back in action with MLB (Major League Baseball) Spring Training starting Monday, February 11. Over the next month and a half, teams will practice at their facilities in either Arizona or Florida to prepare for the long season ahead. Two notable free agents who have more baseball talent in their little fingers, Bryce Harper and Manny Machado, still remain unsigned with a team. WHERE TO CATCH SOME SUN AND A FLY BALL
5. Team captains Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James will draft their all-star teams for this year’s game old-school P.E. class-style. The two captains will pick their teams from a pool of players chosen by the fans, players and a media panel. Those two teams will battle it out on the hardwood in the NBA (National Basketball Association) All-Star Game on Sunday, February 17 in Charlotte, NC. Two special additions to the list of available players includes Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade, both who will be retiring after this season. HEY NOW YOU’RE AN ALL-STAR
