PS: Today’s quick and easy Tailgate Treat is for all our gluten-free friends out there. Your guests will never know these brownies aren’t the real thing.

NFL (NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE)

Let there be beer. Bud Light sympathized with the fans of the Cleveland Browns and their 635-day losing streak. At the beginning of the season, they placed fridges filled with beer throughout the city that would open when the Browns finally won a game. Last night, that dream became a reality when the Browns beat the New York Jets. Not sure who was more excited, the fans, the rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield or the Cleveland Police Department. NOT SORRY FOR CALLING IN SICK TODAY

OVERTIME

Supermodel Chrissy Teigen is full of hysterical sass, and now her words are catching up with her. After a recent tweet claiming she could “absolutely be a hockey goalie,” the Los Angeles Kings (NHL- National Hockey League) invited her to try out to become their emergency backup goalie. And it sounds like she’s taking them up on their offer. SWAPPING STILETTOS FOR SKATES

SIDELINE STAT

It’s been 22 years since Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny graced the big screen in Space Jam. If you’re a fan of the flick, then you’re in luck because a reboot is coming. It will star LeBron James and be directed by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. They will start filming next summer. Guess King James’ move to Hollywood paid off? GRAB THE POPCORN

COACHES’ CORNER

The Los Angeles Angels (MLB- Major League Baseball) player Francisco Arcia made history by becoming the first player ever to play catcher and pitcher and hit a home run- all in the same game. PLAYING THE FIELD

WHAT TO WATCH

Thirty golfers are fixing their eyes on the $10 million prize as the FedExCup wraps up this weekend. Golf legend Tiger Woods is leading the tour championship so far. If he wins, it’ll be his third FedExCup victory. MAKE ROOM IN THE TROPHY CASE

5 Hilarious Excuses Athletes Have Used When Failing A Drug Test

Failing a test is never fun but with their career on the line, athletes will say just about anything to prove their innocence. Here are the true stories of real, funny lies.

Failing a test is never fun but with their career on the line, athletes will say just about anything to prove their innocence. Here are the true stories of real, funny lies.

It wasn’t me,
The Last Night’s Game Team

Five Hilarious Excuses Athletes Have Used When Failing A Drug Test

1. New York Jets (NFL) player Jeremy Kerley blamed ghosts for his failed drug test. He stated that “There’s a lot of ghosts around here. Ghost put it in there. You know, the ghost of Christmas past? … I don’t know.” That didn’t work and he was suspended for four games.

2. Passionate kisses from bad women. Yes, more than one athlete has used this excuse. A Canadian pole vaulter (he tested positive for cocaine, not steroids – totally different) and an American track and field athlete were both allowed to compete after using this excuse.

3. If you’ve ever had the meat sweats, this one’s for you. Numerous athletes have blamed their drug test failures on the substances injected into cattle. An Olympic judo champion, a tennis player and an NFL (National Football League) player all failed tests because of said meat. The best was Duane Brown, the NFL player, who blamed it on the hamburgers he ate in Mexico. Clearly everyone knows that’s why tacos are always the best choice.

4. Cyclist Tyler Hamilton blamed his failed drug test on his vanishing twin. He said he absorbed the blood of his twin, who died in the womb, which caused him to fail the test. We can’t make this up.

5. In the ultimate test of chivalry, Olympic champion Dennis Mitchell blamed his high testosterone levels on his wife. More specifically on “five bottles of beer and sex with his wife at least four times…it was her birthday, the lady deserved a treat.” No one bought this Rico Suave’s story and he was banned for two years.

Happening now

Just say no to drugs and yes to the top three topics that everyone is talking about today including America’s sweetheart Lindsey Vonn, why football is getting so expensive and what baseball is doing to not to bore the pants off you. READ

Like the jelly of the month club, knowing what to say in the sports conversation is the gift that keeps on giving all year long.

PS – Looking for a way to take your tailgate beer game to a whole new level? Today’s Tailgate Treat is exactly what you’re looking for.

NFL (NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE)

America loves a great comeback story. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is headed back to the field eight weeks after breaking his collarbone. He’ll return with a few extra plates and screws in his surgically repaired collarbone to help his team, which is on the verge of the playoffs, finish out the season.

When you can't fit one more thing into your weekend. Starting this weekend the NFL will play two games to on Saturday. You can now catch an NFL game on Monday, Saturday or Sunday. If you’re playing in a fantasy football league, don’t forget to set your rosters. (FYI - Yesterday was the last Thursday Night Football game of the regular season).

MLB (MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL)

When decisions of the head and the heart collide. The St. Louis Cardinals were looking to make a trade and it seemed outfielder Stephen Piscotty was the guy. Piscotty missed some of last season to spend time with his mom who was diagnosed with ALS. Taking in account his family situation, amongst other things, Piscotty was traded to the Oakland A’s where he could be close to his mom.

OVERTIME

In the “this really happened” file, New York Jets player Jeremy Kerley (NFL) was suspended for four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy. How’d that banned substance get into his system? He blamed a ghost, specifically the Ghost of Christmas Past. No really. Apparently, he not only needs to avoid any questionable supplements but he should probably lay off the Disney Christmas cartoons.

SIDELINE STAT

Florida and Nebraska will play for the Women’s Volleyball National Championship on Saturday. Florida will be playing for their first national championship. Expect a big crowd as the semifinal game drew a record 18,000+ people, serving up the biggest crowd of all time.
