Yesterday, he became the first Italian player to ever win a major. (There are four major tournaments during the golf season). On the flip side, golfer Eddie Pepperell said he owes his success to battling through a hangover. WE’LL TAKE THE PASTA

Apparently, Clevelanders are having too much fun at Department of Motor Vehicles because the DMV had to take matters into their own hands to get people to stop smiling in their driver’s license photos. To turn that smile into a frown, they taped a photo of LeBron James to their camera. James left their Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA – National Basketball Association) for the Los Angeles Lakers. The fresh face of American soccer, Christian Pulisic, proved that he’s wise beyond his years. A young fan rushed the field during Pulisic’s postgame interview, but instead of allowing security to haul him off, the 19-year-old star took the time to take a selfie and sign an autograph for the fan, making his day. What to watch
Basketball hall of famer Shaq kicked off Shark Week last night, facing his fears of swimming with sharks. Tonight, Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers (NFL – National Football League), New England Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski (NFL) and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn will all try to avoid becoming shark bait. Imagine being the person who had to draw up those insurance policies... BITE ME

The fans weren’t simply excited for his win but also for the fact that the Nationals promised $1 off of tickets for every home run Harper hit. Can you believe that Discovery Channel’s Shark Week is turning 30 this year? To celebrate 30 years of surfers losing limbs and other stories that scare you out of putting a toe in the ocean, a plethora of celebrities will be making cameos during the week. None of them hold a candle to Shaq’s Shark Week promo. (Say that five times fast). WATCH

It’s going to be tough to find someone who is having a better week than Liz Cambage of the Dallas Wings (WNBA – Women’s National Basketball Association). This week she set the WNBA record for points in a game, followed it up in the next game with the highest ever points total for a two-game span AND was named a WNBA all-star. PINCH ME

People freaked out when Tiger Woods showed up to play in the first round of the British Open yesterday with KT Tape on his neck to relieve his neck discomfort. Clearly people were curious because the KT Tape website saw a 300% increase in web traffic. Woods not only started a new trend but went on to have a great round. Although he probably didn’t think about how bad it was going to hurt to take the tape off. WAX ON, WAX OFF
What to watch
If high flying action with a few broken bones is how you like to spend your weekend, then you’re in luck. The Summer X Games started yesterday in Minneapolis and will run through the weekend. Even cooler than a rad cast that all your friends can sign is the Shred Hate campaign. Tour De France
- You look good in yellow. Britain’s Chris Froome won his third consecutive Tour de France and his fourth overall Tour title yesterday. After 23 grueling days, he received prize money valued at $572,000. (See below where four days of golf lands you $1.8 million).

- Youth prevails. At 23 years old, Jordan Spieth became the youngest American to ever win The Open (aka The British Open). He overcame a horrific early round with one shot that was so bad we could’ve hit it, to bring home the win and $1.8 million in prize money.
WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association)
- Winning and looking good while doing it. The WNBA All-Star Game was in Seattle this weekend and not only did the West beat the East, but they also brought their A game when it came to their shoes. If you’re looking for a new pair of kicks, these ladies rocked it.

- Where do athletes go during games to pee? (Don’t act like you’ve never been curious). They can’t simply leave the field when nature calls. Here’s a funny sneak peek into what athletes do when there are no other options. All we’re saying is choose your sideline Gatorade cup carefully.

- Discovery Channel kicked off its Shark Week by pitting Olympian Michael Phelps against a great white shark. Spoiler alert! They didn’t actually race in the ocean side by side and some viewers were not happy about that. Apparently they don't care about killing off an American treasure. Regardless, the shark utilized the home field advantage of the shark infested, cold South African waters to beat Phelps by two seconds.

- The U.S. Men’s National Team beat Costa Rica to advance to the Gold Cup finals on Wednesday against Jamaica. Why is this match so important? Well, Team U.S.A. has some work to do to become an international soccer powerhouse. This tournament is like a dress rehearsal for the World Cup because it gives them a chance to play against some great competition a year before the world’s biggest sporting event.
