Super Monday

To many men “Super Monday” is the biggest decision day to start a diet.

While it may simply be a Monday to you, to many men Super Monday is the biggest decision day to start a diet.

Detoxing for days,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NFL (NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE)

In the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever, the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady set a record for Super Bowl wins by a player (6) and wide receiver Julian Edelman took home the MVP award. MOST OF THE ACTION WAS IN THE COMMERCIALS

OVERTIME

A rivalry we didn’t expect out of yesterday’s game was corn farmers vs. Bud Light. The beer ran a commercial touting the fact that they don’t use corn syrup in their beer like their competitors. The National Corn Growers Association stated they were disappointed in the brand and thanked Miller Lite and Coors Light for supporting their industry. THAT’S CORNY

Putting together a stellar Super Bowl commercial that resonates with America isn’t easy. Take a look at yesterday’s losers and winners. CHEERS AND JEERS

SIDELINE STAT

The “old guys” of the Patriots showed that experience is everything. With the Patriots win, head coach Bill Belichick, 66, becomes the oldest coach to ever win a Super Bowl and Tom Brady, the oldest quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl at age 41. THEY’RE NOT SLOWING DOWN

COACHES’ CORNER

After showing off her gridiron skills, Bumble became the first special needs dog to win the title of Puppy Bowl MVP. The six-month-old pup was hours away from being euthanized in a shelter when she was rescued by a volunteer. Bumble, who is blind and deaf, now has a forever home in Washington. HAPPY TAILS

TENNIS

Over the weekend, Novak Djokovic (#1) earned his record seventh Australian Open title, beating Rafael Nadal. In the women’s championship, Naomi Osaka (#1) won her first Australian Open. You might remember Osaka upset Serena Williams to win last year’s U.S. Open. IF YOU’RE NOT FIRST, YOU’RE LAST

OVERTIME

Actor Chris Pratt has long been an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fan. This weekend, he was in the corner for a real hero on his first fight. Adel Altamimi, a Baghdad, Iraq native, drove convoys for the U.S. Marines during which he was captured and held hostage by Al-Qaeda. He was later rescued by the Marines. Altamimi and Pratt trained together in Los Angeles and he won his debut fight, all with Pratt in his corner. SEMPER FI

SIDELINE STAT

Over 35,000 fans attended the New England Patriots (NFL – National Football League) Super Bowl send-off party yesterday. Quarterback Tom Brady pumped up the crowd, proving that heading to the big game never gets old, even though he’ll be the oldest player on the field come Sunday. He told the media that there is zero percent chance he’ll retire after the game. HOLD THE MEDICARE

COACHES’ CORNER

Proving they were the best, the Metropolitan team beat out the other three teams in the NHL (National Hockey League) All-Star tournament, winning the $1 million prize. But the real winner of the all-star weekend was women’s hockey. U.S. women's national team star, Kendall Coyne Schofield, became the first woman to compete in the NHL All-Star skills competition. She placed eighth in the fastest skate challenge. LIGHTNING FAST

WHAT TO WATCH

Former Dallas Cowboys player (NFL – National Football League) and current broadcaster Jason Witten had the honor of handing over the championship trophy to the AFC (American Football Conference) team for winning the Pro Bowl (the NFL’s All-Star Game). The only problem is that it broke in half when he handed it over. YOU HAD ONE JOB

Moving On Up

The Super Bowl is set and it’s going to be a wild ride.

The Super Bowl is set and it’s going to be a wild ride.

Fasten your seatbelt,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NFL (NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE)

The games leading up to the Super Bowl were everything the fans could’ve asked for. Both games went into overtime and the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots prevailed and will meet up in the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 3. BRING ON THE BIG SHOW

OVERTIME

The New Orleans Saints left a lasting impression on television viewers and not because of their play on the field. They can thank the deafening whistle of Saints’ super fan the “Whistle Monsta” for piercing the ears of America during the broadcast. Whistle Monsta is a staple at Saints games but even his decibel level couldn’t help his team take home a win. ATTACKING YOUR EARDRUMS

SIDELINE STAT

The young bucks at the Australian Open (tennis) are shaking things up. Defending Australian Open champ Roger Federer was upset by 20-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas and emerging American tennis star Frances Tiafoe gave himself quite the 21st birthday present, advancing to the next round. IT’S MY PARTY

COACHES’ CORNER

The Rams win wasn’t without controversy. After the game, the NFL admitted to the Saints head coach that they screwed up and the ref should've called pass interference on a key play, but too little too late. The botched call may have cost the Saints the game. BETTER THAN BEING ON THE SHOW BOTCHED
