What You Need TO know About The College Football Season
Football season is upon us. The country's thirst for its favorite sport will finally be quenched this weekend when college football begins.
Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, turns heads as he takes his playbook to Colorado. From Jackson State to the Rockies, he's shaking up the coaching scene with his marketing antics. But that's not all – Coach Prime's been through some health hurdles, proving he has the grit to match his strategy. And it's a family affair for the Colorado Buffaloes. Sanders' son Shedeur is suiting up as his starting quarterback.
This week is considered week zero in college football. The season will be a roller coaster you'll want to get on, from conference shake-ups to the teams to talk about. In this week's podcast, we have exactly what you need to know heading into the season. LISTEN UP
Short and Sweet
And then there were four. Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian and big sis Olympia welcomed their newest addition, Adira River.
Six-time Super Bowl-winning coach New England Patriots Bill Belichick has seen a lot in his career, but the man cannot stop raving about Taylor Swift and her Eras Tour concert.
James Harden's decision to publicly air out the dirty laundry regarding his current/former boss, Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, will cost him $100k in fines handed down by the NBA (National Basketball Association).
Known for putting mayo in his coffee (and eating bananas - peels and all), Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has signed a lifetime deal with Hellmann's Mayo.
"Don't get bitter; get better" is Michigan football's head coach Jim Harbaugh's response to a team's self-imposed three-game suspension of its head football coach as part of an ongoing NCAA investigation into the program.

Women's World Cup
Despite their distaste for their coach and the soccer federation, Spain won its first-ever Women's World Cup defeating England 1-0. Olga Carmona was the hero scoring the match's only goal, but tragedy struck as she learned shortly after the game that her father had passed away. Reports say Carmona's father is understood to have died on Friday, but it was kept from her. Carmona's Instagram post confirms the news was withheld from her ahead of Sunday's game.
Another story to note, during the World Cup's traditional on-field medal ceremony, Spanish soccer president Luis Rubiales kissed midfielder Jenni Hermoso on the lips.
MLS (Major League Soccer)
Lionel Messi has dominated the league in his first month in the MLS. His Inter Miami FC team won the League's Cup this weekend, beating Nashville. Reese Witherspoon, co-owner of Nashville SC, and Nicole Kidman were on hand to join Miami's owners, Victoria and David Beckham.
A fun fast - none of the Messi-fueled victories have helped Miami in the actual standing as they sit in last place. The Leagues Cup is a tournament put on by the confederation (Concacaf) and features the 29 MLS clubs and 18 Liga MX teams in a World Cup-style tournament. But in all fairness, it's a step in the right direction.
Before we go
In tennis, 19-year-old Coco Gauff is holding her own, becoming the youngest player to win the Cincinnati tournament. It's her third title of the year.
In the news of things we wish we could do now, let alone at 71. Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was caught on camera throwing an impressive touchdown pass during practice which had fans like Snoop Dogg and Will Ferrell commenting, saying he's making his young player vying for a job look bad.

The weekend is calling.

Full steam ahead to the weekend with the sports small talk you need to know.
Women's World Cup
The weekend's big story is the Women's World Cup Final game between Spain and England. Neither country has won a World Cup title, and England's top player Lauren James returns from her two-game suspension to break that streak for her team. Spain's team has an interesting story going into the game – the players have outwardly expressed disdain for their coach. Either way, Americans will have to get up early, with the game starting at 6 am ET.
Meanwhile, US Soccer women's head coach Vlatko Andonovski resigned yesterday after a disappointing World Cup finish.
Little League World Series
It's time for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, which began Wednesday and runs through August 27. Big league teams are showing up for these kids and their families. The Las Vegas Raiders (NFL – National Football League), Vegas Golden Knights (NHL – National Hockey League), and the Oakland A's (the MLB – Major League Baseball) team is soon relocating to Vegas) all pitched in a total of $45,000 to help their hometown team, the Henderson Little League Team, live out their dreams.
The Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals will play a regular season game in Williamsport on Sunday.
Before you go
Taylor Swift declined the NFL's Super Bowl halftime show offer for the second time.
The NBA (NBA - National Basketball Association) released its schedule yesterday. The Brooklyn Nets showcased their schedule by asking ordinary people to identify NBA logos. The video results are hilarious.
The Los Angeles Rams and the Las Vegas Raiders (NFL) are upping their efforts this weekend during their preseason matchup to support Maui fire relief and recovery efforts. Both will sell merchandise with net proceeds benefitting the cause. The Raiders will sell shirts highlighting the nickname for Vegas as Hawaii's ninth island.
That's what you need to know for the weekend.
