We've reached the end of the French Open, the only major in tennis played on clay courts. However, for the women, this year’s tournament was anything but predictable. The drama started when highly ranked Naomi Osaka refused to attend mandatory press conferences and subsequently dropped out of the tournament, and continued when Ash Barty (ranked number one in the world) withdrew due to an injury.

Now, as the final round approaches on Saturday, tennis fans are again shocked as No. 33 Barbora Krejčíková (pronounced crey-CHEE-koh-va) will face No. 32 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (pronounced pav-loo-CHEN-koh-va). The chance of having two players with such low rankings in the final round was slim, however, both women proved their talent and fought their way through the tournament. This will be the first appearance for both women in a Grand Slam final.

Over on the men’s side of the French Open, Novak Djokovic (No. 1) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 6) will meet up in the finals on Sunday. Tsitsipas is the first Greek player to compete in a Grand Slam singles final.
