When your friend wants to drive home after too many holiday cocktails. Los Angeles Lakers’ Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is playing under some interesting circumstances. He is currently on work release from jail after failing to comply with the terms of his probation, stemming from a drunk driving incident. He can leave the facility for practice and games but has to wear an ankle monitor and he is not allowed to travel with the team to away games.

When your knight in shining armor fails. Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers made his valiant return last week hoping to lead his team to the playoffs after being out with a broken collarbone. Well...after last week's loss, the Packers have no chance of making the playoffs and Rodgers has since returned to the injured list to preserve himself for next season. Update your fantasy team accordingly.
Overtime
After facing backlash for criticizing the NFL for its handling of the anthem protests, the face of the company and Founder/CEO of Papa John’s is stepping down. John Schnatter will stay on as the chairman of the company. Papa John’s hasn’t exactly been rolling in the dough as they’ve seen a drop in sales this year (which they blamed on the anthem protests).

Rumors have been swirling that WWE (Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment) founder Vince McMahon is ready to revive the previously defunct XFL (Xtreme Football League). He sold $100 million in WWE stock and has filed trademarks for the XFL as a “professional football league.” WWE and NBC founded the XFL as a joint venture in 1999 and it had one season before it failed.

Wedding bells are ringing in the Houston Astros locker room. Shortstop Carlos Correa proposed to his former beauty queen girlfriend on the field after their World Series win. Not to be outdone, pitcher Justin Verlander will wed model Kate Upton this weekend in Italy. He’s skipping the championship parade for the wedding. In his defense, he was playing with the Detroit Tigers, who weren’t World Series bound, when they planned their nuptials.

Major NFL (National Football League) sponsor Papa John’s has blamed declining sales on the player protests, saying the lack of NFL leadership has hurt their shareholders. Their pizza making competition disputes those claims saying their sales are up. Even DiGiorno Pizza jumped in on the action with this catty tweet. Let the cheese wars begin.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was on a historic pace for a rookie. You may remember earlier in the season when Watson donated his first NFL paycheck to three stadium employees whose lives were devastated by Hurricane Harvey. - Oh what a night. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim’s Albert Pujols became the ninth player in MLB history to eclipse 600 home runs in his career. Oh, and that 600th home run was actually a grand slam. Even better? The Angels’ fan who caught the 600th home run ball could’ve sold it for a lot of money, but he very kindly gave it back to Pujols.

- Welcome back to winning. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made his return to coaching last night after back surgery and his team didn’t disappoint. The Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers to take 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals.
Soccer
- Ole! Real Madrid (Spain) won its second consecutive Champions League (think Super Bowl for European Club soccer teams). Cristiano Ronaldo not only mesmerized Juventus (an Italian team) with his great hair but his ball skills, scoring two goals to lead his team to the coveted title.
Overtime
- They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend and we’ll find out who the queens of the diamond are tonight when the defending champion Oklahoma Sooners take on the Florida Gators in the College Softball World Series tonight. It’s a best of three series, which runs through Wednesday if necessary.

- Just when you felt accomplished about penciling in one workout this weekend, we bring you 94-year-old Harriette Thompson. Thompson became the oldest woman to complete a half marathon yesterday. At 92 she broke the record as the oldest woman to complete a marathon.

- There were a record setting seven grand slams hit across in MLB games on Saturday night. (A grand slam is when a player hits a home run with the bases loaded). There’s a chance Papa John’s may be rethinking its #papaslam promo that gives fans 40% off pizzas the next day. Pepperoni overload.
