Shoot For The Stars

Knock your week out of the park.

Knock your week out of the park.

Swinging for the fences,

The Last Night’s Game Team

MLB (MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL)

Don't mess with me. On the road the World Series, the Boston Red Sox tied up their series with the Houston Astros (1-1). In Saturday's game, their catcher did something every player has wanted to do - nailed longtime umpire Joe West with a baseball. IT WASN'T ME

OVERTIME

Are you ready for Halloween? The Iowa State band is. Not only did their team beat a previously undefeated West Virginia, but during their Jurassic Park themed halftime show, they surprised everyone with dozens of dancers donning T-rex costumes. Well that is if you call having short arms dancing but regardless it’s a sight to see. BUT CAN THEY DO THE MACARENA?

SIDELINE STAT

2019 is the year of the women. The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team has done something the men’s team couldn’t - qualify for the World Cup. The women will play in the global tournament in France next summer. WHO RUNS THE WORLD?

COACHES’ CORNER

Did you know that NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) is color coordinated? If you’re watching the playoffs, you might see some cars with a lime green/yellow stripe on the front bumper, back spoiler and across the windshield. Why? Those striped cars are still in the hunt for the championship. Once a driver is eliminated from contention, the stripes are removed. The stripe is the way to determine who’s still in it to win it. Back With A Vengeance

Break out the caffeine because Monday is back.

Break out the caffeine because Monday is back.

Show today who’s the boss,

The Last Night’s Game Team

MLB (MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL)

Celebratory cheese curds. We’re in the midst of the MLB playoffs and something is brewing in Wisconsin. The Milwaukee Brewers proved to be too tough for the Colorado Rockies; sweeping them to head into the next round of the playoffs. There are still plenty of teams in the race. PICK YOUR PONY

OVERTIME

One Houston Astros (MLB) fan learned the hard way never to bet against your own team. After a home run by the Astros’ Jose Altuve, the fan made a bet with his section that if the next Astros player at the plate hit a home run, he’d buy beer for the whole section. Well as you can imagine, the Astros prevailed and this fan learned a $500 lesson. DILLY DILLY

SIDELINE STAT

What is 329 pounds and can run like the wind? Okay maybe it's more like a light breeze. That’s Minnesota Vikings’ (NFL) Linval Joseph. The big defensive lineman found himself on the other end of an interception in yesterday’s game and ran the ball back for a 64-yard touchdown. Call us impressed. IT’S LIKE TRYING TO STOP A TRAIN

COACHES’ CORNER

No surprise that there was drama in the highly anticipated UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fight on Saturday night. Conor McGregor lost by submission to Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov (reminder – he is the fighter who trains by wrestling live bears). Chaos ensued after the fight when Nurmagomedov decided to jump out of the octagon and go after a McGregor teammate. ONE WIN WASN’T ENOUGH

What does it mean to lose by submission? It’s when the fighter throws in the towel by tapping out or saying they’re done to avoid injury or passing out from a hold. HE WAS A SLEEPY BEAR

How You Like Them Apples?

It’s Monday. Give ‘em hell.

It’s Monday. Give ‘em hell.

Conquer the coffee conversation,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NFL (NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE)

Express yourself. Seattle Seahawks’ Earl Thomas has long expressed his displeasure with his contract with his team. Yesterday he reiterated where he stands. While being carted off the field with an injury, Thomas blatantly gave the Seahawks sideline the middle finger. DON’T TRY THIS AT WORK

OVERTIME

Even though they were favored, the U.S. Ryder Cup team once again failed to bring home a victory on European soil; a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since 1993. Golfer Phil Mickelson didn’t let the loss to Team Europe get him down. He was seen after hours breaking out his bar tricks by kicking a water bottle off his teammates head. THAT’S GOING TO HURT IN THE MORNING

SIDELINE STAT

As if a season with 162 games wasn’t long enough, there are two ties for division champions leading into the MLB (Major League Baseball) playoffs. The tiebreaker games between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies will be played today. The winner will claim the division title and the loser will play in a winner-takes-all game tomorrow for the wild card spot. (What’s the wildcard? Click here). IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS

COACHES’ CORNER

There was some controversy in this weekend’s Russian Grand Prix F1 (Formula One) race. Driver Valtteri Bottas had to put aside his pride when was ordered to let his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton pass him so Hamilton could win the race and continue to build his overall points lead toward a season title. Hamilton was greeted after the race by Vladimir Putin. Putin posed for the cameras but he still holds a grudge against Hamilton who sprayed him with victory champagne after his last win at the Russian Grand Prix. THE TASTE OF VICTORY
