Turn Back The Hands Of Time

The one person you need to know to talk football, the best in the game is done and one pint-sized fan is taking matters into his own hands.

If we could turn back time, we’d make it the weekend all over again.

Alas, it’s still Monday,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NFL (National Football League)

Rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew is the talk of the NFL. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ leader has not only taken the field by storm, setting franchise records, but his off the field antics have even the non-sports fans buzzing. Watching a game, you might recognize him from his mustache (that resembles Ben Stiller’s in “Dodgeball”) or his zany outfit choices (think Night at the Roxbury). Now his scantily clad pregame warmup routine has come to light. WHAT HAPPENS IN THE LOCKER ROOM DOESN’T STAY IN THE LOCKER ROOM

Overtime

We all know Tom Brady is a freak of nature. He’s one of the oldest quarterbacks in the history of the game and let’s be honest, he’s not too hard on the eyes either. That’s what one Miami security guard found out when the New England Patriots (NFL) bus arrived and her reaction is priceless. (Brady and his team proceeded to destroy the Dolphins 43-0 yesterday). A TERRIBLE POKER FACE

Sideline stat

One pint-sized fan has had enough of his team’s terrible start to the season. The 4-year-old Florida State fan started a lemonade stand to raise enough money to buy out Willie Taggart’s head coaching contract so the team can fire him. The “Free Willie” lemonade stand has raised $241 (buyout is $17 million). BE THE CHANGE

Coaches’ corner

Mike Trout’s season is over. The best player in baseball (MLB – Major League Baseball) will end this season a few weeks early to have foot surgery. Don’t worry, his team, the Los Angeles Angels, is not playoff bound. Hopefully his early trip to the off-season allows for ample recovery time and more photoshoots with the family dog for its Instagram account. IT’S A RUFF LIFE

What to watch

Another (formerly) mustached quarterback to watch is Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns). He was set to the be the golden child before the season started but with a week one loss, he’ll try to redeem himself in tonight’s game. Tonight’s Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets game is a rematch of the first ever “Monday Night Football” game in 1970. (FYI - Jets’ quarterback Sam Darnold is out indefinitely with mono). MATCH(UP) MADE IN HEAVEN

Highly Anticipated

A heartwarming story to start your Monday, who spent their marketing dollars well and NFL week one highlights.

Was the action-packed sports weekend worth the wait?

You be the judge,

The Last Night’s Game Team

NFL (National Football League)

The first week in football was certainly one for the ages. The Antonio Brown drama is finally over…for now. He was a member of the Oakland Raiders Friday night and by Saturday, he was out $30 million but a member of the New England Patriots. There was a rare tie game in the desert and the Miami Dolphins suffered such a horrible blowout loss, that a few players called their agents asking for a trade. AND IT’S JUST WEEK ONE

Overtime

One young fan wanted so badly to participate in his school’s college day but didn’t have a shirt of his favorite team, University of Tennessee, so he created his own. After he was bullied for his homemade design, his teacher took to Facebook to ask her friends for their help securing an official t-shirt. The post went viral and caught the attention of the university that not only sent him swag, but made his handmade design into an official shirt, with the proceeds benefitting an anti-bullying foundation. WEARING YOUR HEART ON YOUR SLEEVE

Sideline stat

Odell Beckham Jr. made his debut with the Cleveland Browns (NFL) yesterday. (They lost). He must have wanted to make a statement because was spotted wearing a $350,000 Richard Mille watch on the field during the game. Rafael Nadal (tennis) also happened to be wearing a Richard Mille watch during his win yesterday that was worth $750,000. TALK ABOUT MARKETING DOLLARS WELL SPENT

Coaches’ corner

In case you missed it, Serena Williams once again missed out on her chance to claim her record-tying 24th Grand Slam title. She lost at the U.S. Open women’s final to Bianca Andreescu. Andreescu is the first player, man or woman, who was born in the 2000s to win a Grand Slam. Rafael Nadal took home the trophy on the men’s side. Tennis is continuing its streak, as both players received the same prize money. ON THE SAME LEVEL

A Labor Of Love

LeBron trademarks Taco Tuesday, a mascot gets sassy and sportsmanship at its finest.

Here’s to a day of BBQs, sunkissed cheeks and sporty chatter.

Put a drink in my hand,

The Last Night’s Game Team

College Football

Week one of college football did not disappoint. We saw a head coach with a staph infection lead his team from his hospital bed in the stadium, a mascot ring up an unsportsmanlike penalty and an iconic touchdown pass from a quarterback who is following in his father’s footsteps. In case you missed it, there’s still one more game tonight between Notre Dame and Louisville. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE

Overtime

LeBron James (NBA – National Basketball Association) is known for sharing his love of tacos on Tuesdays on social media. Since he loves tasty treat so much, he filed a trademark for the term “Taco Tuesday.” There are at least 10 other active requests to trademark the term, but never say never. GUAC IS STILL EXTRA

Sideline stat

In college football, sometimes schools with big football programs pay smaller university football teams to play them in a home game so they can get an easy win. But it’s never a sure bet. Over the weekend, Georgia State not only made $950,000 to play at Tennessee, but they won. TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN

Coaches’ corner

Houston Astros (MLB – Major League Baseball) pitcher Justin Verlander defied “old age,” throwing the third no hitter of his career last night. (A no hitter is when the other team does not get a hit, but they can still get a walk/get on base). The 36-year-old husband of model Kate Upton joins a very small group in the history of the sport to accomplish this three times. SUPER DAD

What to watch

Over the weekend, #1 ranked tennis player Naomi Osaka defeated teenage sensation Coco Gauff at the U.S. Open. Osaka then showed that she was wise beyond her years, comforting an upset Gauff by singing her praise and then encouraging her to join in on an interview. SPORTSWOMANSHIP AT ITS FINEST
