1. Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning will team up against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in “The Match: Champions for Charity” on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. The goal is of course to raise money for COVID relief efforts and the players have contributed $10 million total to four charities - DirectRelief.org, the American Red Cross, Save Small Business and the All-In Challenge. There will also be on-course challenges for the players to raise additional charitable funds. A HELPING HAND
2. Things are going to be getting a little wild at the Medalist Golf Club, Tiger Woods’ home course, as the players are allowed to wear shorts (a big no-no in the PGA – Professional Golfers Association). You might remember Phil Mickelson’s calves nearly broke the internet in a previous tournament. Speaking of chatter, the players will be mic’d up so you’ll have a front row seat to the trash talking, which has already started. BARING IT ALL
3. As if shorts weren’t spicy enough, NBA (National Basketball Association) Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and one of the top golfers in the world, Justin Thomas, will be providing commentary for the match. Barkley is known for his terrible golf swing, so his critique of the match should be top notch. BRINGING IN THE BIG GUNS
4. If this setup looks familiar, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson played each other back in 2018 with Mickelson taking home the $9 million prize. Not to be outdone, Manning and Brady have hit the links together and Manning said, “The last time we played, we got beat by an 84-year-old and a 77-year old." WELL THIS COULD BE ENTERTAINING
5. Due to social distancing, players will have to carry their own clubs and the teammates will act as each other’s caddy, talking through each shot on the course. In case you’re wondering, Manning has a better handicap (6.4 handicap) than Brady (8.1 handicap). Brady joked since Manning is retired he should have a better handicap. TOUCHÉ

The world is feeling a void this morning with the end of the the Michael Jordan documentary “Last Dance.” It kept non-sports fans and sports fans alike on the edge of their seats, even though we all knew how it would end. One story that surprised many last night was the tale about how Michael Jordan was poisoned by a local pizzeria in Salt Lake City while the Chicago Bulls were in town playing the Utah Jazz in the NBA Finals. Yesterday’s “Driving Relief” match between four PGA (Professional Golfers Association) golfers was a huge success. Not only did the four players - Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Matthew Wolff - practice social distancing while carrying their own clubs (no caddies allowed), they raised $5.5 million for the CDC Foundation and the American Association for Nurses. It also gave golf fans got their fix to hold them over until the season starts back up next month. FOR THE WIN

NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) is back in a big way with Kevin Harvick winning the first race post-quarantine. His “Real Heroes 400” victory was his 50th career win. It was bittersweet as he honored Dr. Joshua Hughes, an emergency medicine physician in the Charlotte area who is on the frontlines fighting covid. Drivers will race Wednesday night on the same track in Darlington. Then they’ll race the same track once again over Memorial Day weekend. DRIVING HOPE

NASCAR returns this weekend with the “Real Heroes 400." Through a collaboration with NASCAR, FOX Sports and the teams, each driver’s name will be replaced on the car with the name of an individual healthcare worker who is currently battling COVID. Another fighter hitting the track is Ryan Newman, who was involved in a horrific, fiery crash in February at the Daytona 500. Golf will resume this weekend with PGA (Professional Golfers Association) golfers Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson teeing off against their colleagues Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff. The goal of the match is to raise money for COVID relief with team McIlroy/Johnson playing for the American Nurses Foundation and team Fowler/Wolff, the CDC Foundation. The winning team will have a chance to earn anywhere from $50,000-$500,000 per hole for all 18 holes. GOLF FOR GOOD
