The biggest news of the weekend is that the New England Patriots lost to the Tennessee Titans, missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Speculation is swirling around Tom Brady’s next move, but nothing has been announced. New York Mets (MLB – Major League Baseball) often injured star player Yoenis Cespedes missed last season with an ankle injury sustained from a fall on his ranch. This weekend it was reported that the ankle injury was due to a wild boar incident at his ranch. The boar either startled him or charged him, causing him to step into a hole and hurt his ankle. The tennis season kicks off in Melbourne on January 19 at the Australian Open but the start of the season could be impacted by the wildfires. Organizers are considering delaying the tournament if the conditions continue to deteriorate around Melbourne. Big name tennis players, athletes and celebrities of all nationalities have stepped up to donate to help the victims of the devastating Australia wildfires. RALLY FOR RELIEF

When you feel like you’re doing three people’s jobs. King James still reigns supreme as his team beat the Boston Celtics last night in game seven to head to the NBA finals. Even though this will be LeBron James’ eighth consecutive appearance in the finals, some say this is his biggest feat yet because he has carried his team on his shoulders for the entire season.
Overtime
Hanging out in exotic locations with models is an average Sunday for quarterback Tom Brady (NFL – National Football League). Decked out for a white party, he spent his time at the Monaco Grand Prix (F1 – Formula One Racing) yesterday with model Bella Hadid at a sponsor event. He also took time to toss the football with race winner (see coaches’ corner). BEST DAY EVER?

There’s still a chance for a rematch of the past three years of the NBA finals, featuring the Cavs and the Golden State Warriors, if the Warriors win tonight. Steph Curry and his team are in Houston to take on the Rockets in game seven tonight.

Yesterday was a great day to be from the land down under, with the Aussies taking home victories in both the Indy 500 (IndyCar) and the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. First, Daniel Ricciardo dominated the picturesque course in Monaco, celebrating his victory with his signature shoey – a celebratory drink out of the shoe he wore for the race. (More like eewey). Then there’s Australia’s own Will Power, who chugged the traditional Indy 500 victory cocktail, a nice bottle of milk, after racing in scorching hot temperatures. Although all eyes were on Danica Patrick, whose racing career came to an end with a crash less than halfway through the race. INDY
What to watch
What happens in Vegas is certainly not staying in Vegas tonight in the first of seven games in the battle for the Stanley Cup (NHL – National Hockey League). This is the first time in 20 years the Washington Capitals have been in the finals and it's the first year on the ice for the Vegas Golden Knights, an expansion team. ARE YOU READY FOR IT?

When you’ve got to have faith. Sister Jean (pictured above) does it again! She may have not picked her own team in her bracket but the 98-year-old Chaplin for Loyola Chicago watched her #11 seeded team continue their Cinderella story by beating Nevada last night. The team will now move on to the elite eight this weekend. SCHEDULE

Athletes are just like us in that they lose their luggage. American Airlines lost the clubs of LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) golfer In-Kyung Kim on a flight from Miami and simply couldn’t seem to locate them. The airline suggested she rent some replacement clubs in the meantime. As luck would have it, some fans found her clubs a few months later for sale for $69.99 in a Play It Again Sports in San Diego.

Buried in the government spending bill that you’ve heard so much about is a provision to exempt minor league baseball players from minimum wage laws. These players can make as little as $5,500 for the season (players do not receive a salary for spring training or postseason play). The exemption was lobbied for by MLB (Major League Baseball) and the reason? Some say without it, minor leagues would have to make cuts that could hurt the teams and the economy of the cities they play in. MORE

Drivers from all over the country will flock to Disney, Oklahoma this weekend to drive their off-road vehicles up rocks. (Yes it’s as dangerous and gravity defiant as it sounds).
Two of the biggest challenges of the weekend are rocks called Viagra Hill and Nasty Girl. Why Meat Fest? It has nothing to do with the mass quantity of imbibing men, it actually refers to the large width of the tires used on the vehicles. Overheard hundreds of times at the event, “Watch this. Hold my beer…”
